easily done but,
the biggest issue i had with making these was the cost of the core it self,

the last core i purchased cost me $578, for 550x320x75, then i spent over a day fabricating the tanks.

evil_si: Would you know how much it would cost to have a intercooler refined? Just an aporx price would be great thanks :)

isnt the best thing to grab truck intercoolers and cut them down, as theyre generally mint

late model truck cores are good, but the width cant be changed, well it can but its not worth the painstaking hassle.
the height is easily changed.

recoring an intercooler isnt hard depending on the type, the cost comes down core availability thena couple of hours for the fabrication time

but yes quility is normaly better as well

does anyone have any info about the size of intercooler to support various power levels ? or some sort of guide to sizing an intercooler appropriately for a specific application?

Thats the type of thing im trying to get away from. Maximum efficiency, because once you pass the size of intercooler which suits your power level or engine setup, youre just creating more restriction and getting less response. I dont care about bling or anything anyway, the intercoolers going to be designed for max flow and hidden behind the bumper

each to there own but i beleave that a fast car done right well out douse a slow car done with bling i dont see the point why any one wants to spend all that money on a car just to comprise profamce over looks

the setup im thinking of is

1800cc
10:1 comp or 10.5:1
td05 big 16g

the turbo can support 380hp so i suppose thats the power figure im aiming for

Correct me if I'm mistaken but thats some high compression for a turbo setup isn't it? Well unless you have your gate set to dump at 5~6psi... Though your power figure makes me think that you are planning at least 4 times that.

yes its a relatively high compression figure. 10:1 is definitly possible. 10.5 is getting a bit high. I plan to run around 1 bar on pump gas, aiming to use 95octane if I can get away with it. Because of this high compression, detonation is going to be a problem which is why i need a very good intercooler to keep the charge temps down.

I an doing an 1800 turbo engine also,

Would like to get it close up to 10:1, and it needs to make at least 380hp
or the whole thing is not worthwhile.

Looking at the high comp ratio as my race class has an 18psi boost limit.

use your cams to change the dynamic compression ratio. the standard ratio is just your max comp value u can attain.

so if you are clued up enough, run you car as high as you dare, then use your cams and the intake valve close degree to alter your dynamic compression ratio to one that you can sufficienly fuel and run without detonation.
