Correct, any temp lower than 6000k is best. Higher colour temp you go the bluer it becomes and the light output is less.
It is a myth that emos are contagious, and you may be infected. However, it is still widely accepted to wash your hands after physical contact

Lighting rule info is in the FAQ section.

viewtopic.php?t=45506

Note:

3.2(4) The horizontal orientation of a headlamp on a vehicle must, when the vehicle’s front wheels are pointing in the straight-ahead position, ensure that the centre-line of the beam of light emitted from the lamp is projected either parallel to, or to the left of, the longitudinal centre-line of the vehicle.

3.2(6) A dipped-beam headlamp designed solely for a left-hand-drive motor vehicle, where the maximum intensity of the beam is dispersed to the right, must not be fitted to a vehicle.

12.1(1) A modification to a motor vehicle that affects the performance of its lighting equipment:

* (a) must not prevent the vehicle from complying with the applicable requirements of this rule; and
* (b) must be certified in accordance with Land Transport Rule: Vehicle Standards Compliance 2002.

The Vehicle Standards Compliance Rule 2002 goes on to state in some detail what requires certification...

If people have an opinion as to whether HIDs construe a 'modification' per the above, am interested...

Bulb kits are.....Complete housing conversions aren't (as long as they comply with standards)

As per http://www.ltsa.govt.nz/vehicles/get-yo ... right.html
"High intensity discharge (HID) conversion kits

HID conversion kits (an HID bulb with a high voltage power unit or ‘ballast’ which fits into the original headlamp unit in place of the original bulb with no change to the headlamp lens, reflector or housing) are illegal on any vehicle being used on New Zealand roads.

However, a complete halogen headlamp unit can be replaced with a complete HID headlamp unit provided that the replacement headlamp unit complies with approved standards. If in doubt, get advice from a vehicle lighting retailer you trust."

B ROWDY - if you have a list of known compliant kits at the moment then by all means post that up, it could then be placed in somewhere like FAQ's etc for reference & added to or modified as needed.

LHD drive head lamps = not legal

and just coz one wof guy says "i dont care" means nothing
cops can still ping you.
and if another wof guy see its and enters it in the wof syste, your screwed

we had an issue with a tundra that had wofs at a "local" garage for 5 years.
then came here and got failed on the lamps..... man that caused a headache!

and re the WRC cars, theres provsions for cars like that to get exemptions, which is why they are allowed mirror tints etc.

as far as modiforcation goes
anything that is not supplied OEM is and can be considered a modiforcation

OEM = what that specific car left the factory with

From memory my Audi has a flip on the back of the lamp housing to move it from Left lane drivng to Right lane driving. As you can imagine in Europe/England, this would be important.

I would assume they meet the required standards, although I'd be waiting for to confirm. I think it'd probably be a grey area though, and I'm pretty sure they don't make em anymore

if your car fails, they enter the reason why into the database.
so if you go elsewhere, it shows up when they enter the details

yeah, i understand that part. But you could just go to a completely different place and they would give you an inspection and wouldnt see the note untill after they had done the check.

unless there is something i am missing?

They dont view the details until entering the results of the inspection in.
