GZ20 Stock Diff into GX81?

Postby thegreatestben » Fri Mar 09, 2007 2:02 pm

Is a Stock lsd diff out of a GZ20 Soarer bolt into GX81 with IRS?
I've bought Loonies GX and I know of someone with a Soarer stock lsd.
If it does fit what would you price the lsd being worth?

yes the diff fits, GA70 brakes are the smallest of the lot, i had them on my MZ20, 280mm front discs, ffs, too small, get the big ma70 ones or buy 300mm discs from BNT or somewhere and fit JZA70 calipers like i did (if you can find them)

but to answer your question yes the brakes will bolt on, just check the sizes to make sure you aren't swapping something identical.

and the going rate for G series LSD seems to be around $500.

Ah excellent, I shall try to score it.
Is it worth the money? Are they a good unit, any advice or experiences?

I'll have a measure up of the brakes too.

i never used a clutch pack lsd because i bought a torsen for mine, and the car came with an open, but as long as its still nice and tight it should be fine for a few ponies, loonie should have some idea since i think hes had them in his cars. if its in good nick, then yes i'd say its worth the money, when i had the open diff it was pretty useless, i got one wheel of fury just driving gently around corners and under moderate acceleration, it was especially terrible in the wet.

Facelift Ma70s also had 300mm rotors not just the jza70's

I have a standard clutch pack LSD in my supra, came out of a 87,000km car and it still hooks up third gear with both wheels still spinning, so unless ur a drifter with a good condition stocker id say you will keep happy

Ok just double checking will it fit into a live axle? cos this is IRS.
The third digit in the code needs to be 08 or 09 to be the diff ratio your after.
Will check it soon as I see the car.
