To start, its a 105e model built in 1967. Escorts replaced them a few years later.
They are rear wheel drive and weight a "mear" 750kg.
They came with 30hp and did the 1/4 in more or less 20 seconds....
SO out with 30hp and in with 130hp standard silvertop. Running gear is covered but stuck on front suspention.
Importing stuff from pomgolia isnt cheap (sooner put new school technology in it) and since i have a Toyota parts upgrage is the preferred choice.
The idea is to mount the steering rack (faster than the 5.5 turn lock-to-lock steering box and far superior steering feel) and front struts from a AE101.
BUT the stub axle (think its called this, the part where the wheel beering is, the brakes get bolted to) is front wheel drive so its got a hole in the middle for a driveshaft. The bolt that holds the wheel beering in is connected to the driveshaft. They are not needed now as it rear wheel drive car.
Besides plasma cutting the front splines off the driveshafts and using them to hold it all together (is this legal??), is there any other alternative by using either DX, Starlet, Cressida, Supra, Altezza that will fit the AE101 Struts?
This hasnt been done before so there isnt much point pouring in sackfulls of cash into it if it just doesnt work. The idea is to get it rolling and see if it has potential as cheaply as possible. Then get serious when it scares hell out of me.
Any help will be apreciated, cheers
