Well lets hope its not rained out this year.
Why dont they put it in the supplementary regulations that the results of the times of saturday will stand as a result for the event if rained out on the sunday?,at least you`d get a result for what is obviously an expensive event to run and will get everybody going for it and not sandbagging/foxing for sundays event.

Because of fairness - even though everyone finished their second run on the Saturday, this year could mean everyone could finish their second run and half could finish their third run.. or only 50% could finish their second run, however, at the end of the day a result can only be called if thats what the MSNZ approved Regulations state - and thats a full 2 days racing. And thats what I'm hoping for :)

write the regs so that in situation of force majure, results are calculated from the last completed run, piece of cake

Nah,

That will give you bogus results as you would have had someone like me who used the first run to learn where the track goes,
would get beaten by the guy who ran his mums corona at the event for the last 8 years.

Sure it may happen that way and you will be able to get a result,
but you might as well just post up the running order as the results list,
or draw the resluts from a hat as they will have nothing to do with who is the fastest..

bollocks. it would be no different to any of those events that we run,
whereby at drivers breifing you state ' we are hoping to give you # runs each, but if delays occur, results will be calculated from the last completed run'
so you either risk relegation or go hard from the outset.

I'll leave that for someone else.. (to be honest tyres are a f**king mystery to me)

Was speaking to Pat McMorran today (Chch Scrutineer for the Sprints) and he just said make sure your car turns up as its going to be raced on the day (as if you were heading for scrutineering 30 minutes before racing) - and remember to bring logbook, helmet and overalls. Mention if you are going to be taking passengers when you are there (if your car is up to the required spec) as they normally issue a second sticker then instead of the event.

I queried him about tyres, as I don't want to drive out there on the Dunlops, but he said as long as the tyres on it at the time could be scrutineered and passed its ok, (and as long as if you are using others on the day they would also have passed - keep in mind vehicles are audited randomly on the day, at the start and between runs, and you or your vehicle can't leave the event area without permission from the CoC or CRO). I guess the smart thing to do would be simply to throw the tyres you want to use (if you don't want to change them before scrutineering for some reason) in the back of the vehicle to be looked at then.

Unlike some other events I won't mention, your car will be jacked up so just make sure your car is sorted for the obvious things - your springs don't fall out once jacked up, your harness belts haven't expired, your steering system & throttle return are in good working order - you'll be fine.

From talking to quite a few different scrutineers in the past, its amazing how the majority of people fail on simple stuff like extinguisher not mounted correctly, expired belts, flammable overalls (yep) and expired helmets. :)

Basturd thing those tyres. great in all ways except there is no noise when they lock up.
Only way to tell you have locked a wheel is to see the smoke,
and by that time the tyre is stuffed.

Wrecked a real good tyre at Ruapuna like that when the brake bias was out of adjustment.

Gutted mate. You still coming down to have a watch?

(I also guess you've let Shayne know you can't compete anymore so a reserve gets in / hence your money back?)

Hope to see you there anyway :) If you do, make sure you come over and say Hi.
