WTB ae86 radiator, asap

anyone in chch got ae86 radiator lying round theyd like to sell? i was allways recomended to replace my old ae85 radiator ( thats screwed anyway) and got home tonite to find a nice wee puddle of coolant on the ground lol yea so if i could track one down this weekend thatd be great

why not rod and flush the existing one and get the leak fixed?? at least you'll no you have a good radiator.

yea i was told when the conversion was done that the radiator will need replacing, as the top of its gone all yellow and looks awful ( i cant remember the reason for that though) should be easier to just find a replacement shouldnt it? or not?

maybe, but it could also be half rooted. better the devil you know. take it to the radiator shop and get an inspection and quote.

Also check its leaking from the radiator itself and not a hose

If you don't think it's going to be worth getting your ae85 one fixed, ask round for some prices to get custom made ones. I know of someone who makes up camry radiators and use custom top mounts to fit the ae,

yea im gonna have a look tomorow and accually see where the leaks coming from, b nice if it was just a hose lol, can you sort of give me a price range on how mcuh these custom radiators are, theres two ae86 radiators on trademe for around $50 (oh is there any difference between 85 & 86 radiators?) but yea i posted here first as i was hoping to source one locally and hopefully get it all fixed up this weekend so i can take it into the panelbeaters on monday to get some rust taken out

apparently the ae85 is a single core and ae86 is twin core , not that i've noticed any differences between the 2 that i have.

had a good look under her today, it appears that its coming from the waterpump, well its running down the back of the cambelt cover then leaking off the sump sort of directly underneath the dizzy, so yea im guessing its a seal or something, so how do i go about it now? is it a very complicated or expensive job to replace???

it's really easy, usually there are 2 o-rings, 1 behind the waterpump on the block and another where the water pipe goes to the outlet of the water pump, You'll have to strip the cam covers off and probably take the cambelt off to get to the seal behind the waterpump where it sits in the block. just unbolt the waterpump and take the old seal out, fit new one and reassemble it. The pipe o-ring shouldn't be too hard either, just unbolt the pipe bracket if it's bolted to the block and replace that too.

haha yea mate , soo im gonna have a go at doing this today, ive asked a few people and searched the forum and it sounds easier to just replace the waterpump as replacing the seals is quite tricky, does this sound right? too me replacing a seal sounds a lot cheaper than the whole waterpump unit so id be more keen to do that lol

Depends if you are confident enough to replace the O-rings yourself, paying to get it done would be uneconomical.

I'd be looking at replacing the waterpump with a new unit, ring around for the best price.
