Instead of running a single event for street cars, and have their owners bitch and moan that they don't get enough days at the track, we have come up with a solution.Seeing as they seem to need spoon-feeding, here's a ladle to lick
Street Car Challenge Series
PREAMBLE
The idea behind creating a new series within our existing Club Championship is to encourage new entrants to try actual racing and timed sprints in a safe, controlled environment. It gives the entrants a chance to improve their driving skills, whilst enabling them to also test their cars capabilities without fear of fines, demerit points, and harassment from law enforcement and the general public. It is intended to bridge the gap between illegal street-racing, and competitive motorsport, and may well serve as a way to identify new talent, and help them achieve greater success. Furthermore, it is hoped that many of the entrants may get further involved in the sport as either a co-driver, marshall, administrator, pit crew etc, and fill a void that is ever increasing due to demands placed on our current motorsport enthusiasts.
ENTRANTS
The series is open to any financial member of the South Canterbury Car Club Inc., with limited or nil competition experience.
Entrants need not hold a civil drivers licence, but must not be disqualified from driving by order of the Courts, but will be required to obtain an MSNZ Clubsport grade licence.
Any competitor under the age of 18 years, must have an ‘Authorised Minor’ form signed by their parent or guardian, and they must provide photo ID to authenticate their designation.
All entrants are bound by the standing regulations of each particular event, and will be punished accordingly for any breaches.
CAR ELIGIBILITY
The series is open to any car, provided that it complies with Sch.A.
No car may be prepared with competition safety equipment , unless certified by LVVTA.
All cars that are not registered for road use must have an MSNZ logbook.
Any roll protection fitted must be homologated and unless factory fitted (MX5, Lotus 7 replicas etc), renders the car ineligible, unless the driver is participating in driver coaching due to being too young to hold a civil drivers licence.
Any car may be entered by multiple drivers at the discretion of the organisers.
All cars must carry appropriate door flashes/advertising to be entitled to score points.
EVENTS
Any event run by the SCCC that does not require roll protection is deemed to be a qualifying round (i.e. does not include Hillclimbs/Gravel Sprints).
Most events will be conducted at Levels Raceway and will be sealed tarmac. This does not infer that any/all grass Autocross events do not count towards the series points.
½ price entry to final event in series for those who have completed in every other round.
POINTS
There will be 2 capacity classes for the series. 0 - 1850cc N/A and 1850cc - open + F/l. Equivalence factors will be used to determine capacity.
25 points will be awarded to 1st place in each class and overall, and will descend down to 1 point for each driver who enters.
20 bonus points will be added to any driver who enters every event, and a further 20 points will be added for entering every event in the same car.
Series placings will be determined by capacity classes as well as overall.
Any tie in points will be settled by a count back of the highest placings.
Any prizes/scholarships etc from winning the series, cannot be rewarded multiple times in succession, therefore reigning champion/s will forfeit to the next placed entrant.
