Postby Boosted_162 » Sun Apr 22, 2007 11:40 pm

At the same point with my Blacktop.

Have been told to CRC it then use a couple of levers to gently force it off. (I can see this ending in tears  )

Pulley puller FTW though.

The worst part is, i cant break it. Only reason im taking it off is because RedMist needs one.

Ill see if i can get a puller.

even an axle puller will do the trick, definitely EXTREMELY hard to get off otherwise. i spent a whole afternoon trying to get one off every way possible once, got an axle puller and had it off in 10 minutes without breaking a sweat

put engine at tdc
take spark plug out of cylinder where piston is at the bottom
get a soft nylon rope and feed it into the bore
then rotate the engine by hand
then get power bar onto it

works everytime

Just make a puller, easy as.

I have not got a picture of mine but works mint.

It's just a piece of flat bar steel with three hole drilled into it for the bolts, and the right length bolts and nuts that i found in the garage.
Two that go through the bar and bolt into the pulley,
and the centre one has a nut on the pulley side of the bar so as you screw
the centre bolt in, it pushes on the crank pulley bolt ( leave the pulley bolt in a few turns from the end )

one I get the centre bolt loose it only takes about a minute to attch the puller and pull it off.

Would post a pic but it's all packed away in my race stuff ready to go away for the weekend.

You might need to sacrifice an imperial spanner for your plate, as I had 5mm mild steel plate bent while trying to take off the pulley on a 20v. Imperial spanners are useless anyways (except maybe above 1" - good for smacking things and chucking in anger  ).
