I think this is especially bad for anyone (like me) wanting to buy Jap import small truck. A cheap truck will be a heap of junk, and a new truck 2002+, so mega bucks. No body will sell a moderatly affordable truck (ie one currently worth 15-20k), or they'l want heaps for it because theres such demand.

Now I am not saying this is a bad thing or debating how significant our emissions are to, say, China's. However we have to reconcile this with the image we want to present to the rest of the world.
If we do want to push the price of cars up through doing this we'd better have some decent public transport sorted to back it up.
