anyone know this:

will a rb20det from a 2wd skyline fit into a 4wd skyline.
am aware the sump is different

if i was upgrading id be fitting TWO 20vs

nah, tech here bought a 4wd rb20 powered skyline
had it two weeks and cambelt snapped

Yeah, just change the sump and pickup.

As a side note, the RB20 weakpoints are the cambelt tensioner, oil pump cover bolts loosening, and the coils crapping out due to excess heat in the plug valley/carbon plug contacters becoming pitted, so he may want to check the new motor over before it goes in..

I was lead to believe you cant install a r32 rb20 rwd motor into a gts4 as the sumps mounting points are different, but the gts4 engine has bolt holes in the block for both the 2wd sump and the 4wd sump....

4x4 engine will go to a 2wd but not other way around

Hmm.. I have definitely seen a GTS4 with a GTSt motor, perhaps they've modded the factory sump.. I'll have to ask.

GTS4 Sump on the gts-t. AFAIK the t sump not bolting to the 4 sump and the other way round is a myth. Either bolt together as it is a rb block after all.
So as long as the man in quesiton still has his 4wd motor there he should be able to change sumps as they are different and i'm pretty sure the mounts are different as to where they bold onto the chassies but not the motor - again and rb is and rb is an rb so long as the following numbers match ie 20det 25det 26dett

Not a myth sorry 4x4 block is wider with differnt sump bolt pattern

Yes block mounts a same

Sumps are differnt.

2wd steel sump bolts on with 10mm bolts

4x4 Alloy sump and diff bolts to block with 14mm head bolts and studs with bolt holes for 2wd sump inside the pattern for 2wd sump

4x4 engine will fit 2wd but not the other way
/Buy a 4x4 engine to suit your 4x4 car.

The 4x4 block has the pattern for the 2wd sump also

But the oil pick up comes from different position on the block as 4x4 engine is worth more than 2wd converting 4x4 to 2wd don't make sense
