what can i do?

What can i do under my bonnet quickly to stop my car from being started, hotwired or what ever?? going away and just thought it would be a good idea to lower the chance of it ''going for a drive'' without my permission 8O its a silvertop by the way

take off any one of these items and store it in side the house.

leads, battery, coil, main efi fuse or engine fuse.

starter motor wires in a pretty obscure place on those engines. its the black one with a white stripe under the intake plenum. or all of those above

Yer was thinking leads so yer thats prob the easiest so ill do that.
will let some fart bombs off inside the car too. HAHAH nah :lol:

I took my ECU out, then put all the covers back on. :)

remove wheels and put on axle stands and then angle grind the threads off the hubs.. Aint going no where!!! lol

I would go with remove the wheels, that way any crims just move on, you won't have the window smashed , ignition broken before they find out it wont start

Open the glove box, and unplug the ecu. easy, simple and unless u knew cars you'd have no $&#$% idea.

Imagine the look on someones face if they went out to there car in the morning to go to work and found there car like that!! 8O :evil:

Meh, just disconnect the battery, take it out, and take the terminal ring off the +ve wire :lol:

Take the lead off from the coil to the dizzy, easy as that. I dont think those run an internal dizzy.

one has to wonder at the intelligence levels of people suggesting things to do with the starter motor or the battery, Ever heard of push/roll starting a car? you dont need either of those 2 items for that.

you don't need a battery to push start a car? :?

i would say remove all the ht leads, take the ecu out of the car alltogether and remove a few fuses / relays etc.

some do some dont.... some still need the circuit to be maintained even if the battery is as dead as a dodo...

try it on your car, start it up and disconnect the battery terminal and see what happens....

Ha. Been there, done that. Tried it while I was trying to wire up the master kill switch on my race car. Car still runs.

To stop the car the white wire from the alternator to the back of the ignition barrel needs to be cut as well.

but no matter what, wouldn't you need the fuel pump etc to be running and have power going to it BEFORE you push start the car? how would the car start without fuel being pumped to the injectors?

might sound like a stupid question...but im stupid :roll: :lol:

D/c the batt as its good not to leave everything powered

unplug the ecu... you can doit with out removing it. or pull efi fuse in engine bay


If you have a alen key on hand pull the leads.... coil to dizzy you can just use a heavy wire taped in :lol: but no plug leads... you cant just use anything on 20v

I would be slightly careful about that, not sure how fast 20v alternators react to changes in it's load. Big change like removing the battery can cause the voltage to spike enough to hurt something (stereo most likely).

You can't start a car with out a batt.

As with out power to start with the alt can't generate any and you'll get no where. It doesn't need much power, but it does need some.

What? That reason doesnt make any sense at all.

(not saying that you can start a car without a battery, but your reason is interesting)

Explain to me why the alternator needs power to make power...

EDIT:

Wait, are you meaning the voltage up line that turns the alt on? If so, then yeah, ill agree with you, but only on cars that run that line. I know my 4k didnt, and my 4age in my mr2 didnt (hacked loom tho, it was meant to).
