what other problems are we talking about? what else would likely (or unlikely) go wrong with a caliper? would it be worth just getting a new one?

I'm as lost as you ;) I'm just wanting to know if fitting a new seal kit will fix all problems with a caliper, or if some problems wont be fixed by doing so.

it depends whats wrong with the caliper. if you have a heavily corroded piston then new seals arent going to be new for long, if you take my meaning.

if you dont know what you are doing i would reccomend taking it to a professional, it will cost more but brakes arent something to be playing with imho.

yup, my handbrake works pretty well...
you can only really get second hand calipers can't you? in that case, wouldn't it just as likely have the same problem as mine seeing that the cars these calipers came off are at least 16 years old now?

you can probably still get brand new calipers from toyota, though you might not like the price - i inquired about new AE86 calipers a while back and was told they were around $800 each trade...

getting them rebuilt is a good option though.
