I wasnt going hard on your mate... Example. I have a 1990 ae92 Levin Apex. One day (when i have heaps of time) i want to strip it down, repaint it, restor it to original condition and maybe stick a 7age or a 4agze in it. It makes no sense as i could buy something better for my money - but my car was bought for me by my father before he died (he owned a ke25 and loved corollas) - so there is an explanation for my insanity.

What i was getting at was i was trying to understand if there was a similiar them for your car... You keep asking the same questions and people keep knocking you back because what you are saying makes no sense... i am trying to help you explain to everybody why it is worthwhile completing your project.

I still dont understand your reasons however... doing it for the sake of finishing it seems a bit backwards... you will end up with a car that has the same performance as a factory BZG but you will of spent twice the money getting it there...

what??! page 5 and the project is still full steam ahead??? he hasnt crashed it or nothing??? wtf are you guys doing? lol

Lee90, dude, im gonna elaborate what a few people have already told you, dont know why, i must be really bored, im usually not this nice :?

You've got to do a LOT more patient reading and planning before you go throwing thousands of dollars away trying to make this car go faster. Im talking at least a year here, this wont happen overnight.

So far, the bodykit, the wing, and the wheels have only slowed the car down - not the best start.

You seem dead set on shelling out lots of money to give your car 200hp without really understanding what has to happen. If you approach it like this, YOU WILL GET RIPPED OFF, BIGTIME. I suspect this has already happened with the body mods.

If you MUST use this car, and NEED it to be faster (more expensive to maintain, less reliable, more insurance cost etc etc), then you first have to work out how you want to make it happen. 200Hp from a non turbo 4age is going to be very expensive. It will cost you more than the entire car is worth, and once its done, you probably wont like driving it.

200hp from a turbocharged 4age isnt such a big deal, but will still cost you many thousands if you're not doing the work yourself. You would be best to start with a map sensor 4agze and give it a small turbo setup - cheap, simple (in comparison), and will go really nice.

Now you know what decision you have to make, go search the internet for say, a year or two on both options, and you should be knowledgable enough to ensure you dont get ripped off, and that you end up with a nice setup. Untill then, im afraid nobody is really going to take you very seriously. Sorry.

Gene

*Edit* ...after reading this thread more, i like this guy lol. Lee90, Before you go spending ANY more money on your car, get the quote, and post it up here for us to check out, god toyspeed is good to you :D Good luck.

Hey Lee, I've read your post always and I thought is time I put my say into it too. By the sound of things and the way you are going, like previous people have said...will COST MORE than your car..which I found out myself and still not achieving 200hp.

I know where you coming from, as myself, I have many of my friends still saying to me with the amount of money I've spent, I've could have got an EVO by now, but hey what can you do when you love the car so much.

My advice is, and like many people said, PLAN IT WELL and PLAN IT ALL. Don't do it bit by bit. trying to achieve 200hp from the blacktop to me is a mission and is still a mission! If you don't particular favor turbo or NA, my advice is GO TURBO! with my mods now, (still not properly tuned) daily driving is quite bad, as low down in the rev there is VERY LITTLE torque, thus you will costantly need to rev high to get the car going, which to some motorist is annoying and thinking you are a boy racer (WHICH I FOUND OUT A COUPLE OF TIME.) No offense but most drivers on the road aren't very patient, like my setup now, having the car to go from the traffic lights slower than normal cars PISSES some people off (especially in auckland and in peak hours where people just use their horn when they are a second slower....anyway I stop here now)

AT THE END OF THE DAY, YOU LOVE YOUR CAR, and want POWER....GO TURBO.

lee90 JUST DO IT!!!

go ahead with your plans and find out for yourself how the tuning would works. don't listen to the nay sayers. its the only way you'll learn anything. even if its blowing a big ward of cash. its not the final result that matters its the road leading there that counts. you'll have lots of fun and lots of tears on the way but hey thats life. give it a try. at least you'll know for sure if it will work or not.

please read my sig below...

The best way to learn is by doing it yourself, i'm not saying do everything yourself, but the more you try yourself the more you will learn. I started learning by buying a cheap KP Starlet without an engine, I completely stripped it out, bought an engine and manual and went from there, took me a good 9 months of weekend and after work time, but what I learn't doing that I would never learn by reading the net or paying others to do it for me.

just a thought, buy a kp starlet and do the same  very basic cars that allow you to understand the workings that transfer to most cars.

That is a great bit of advice :D

For the record - i think we all like lee90 - thats why we are trying to help him make best use of his money. It speaks volumes that after 5 pages of saying the same thing to him over and over again we are still all in good humor!

But yeah Lee, if this is your pride and joy i wouldnt do it yourself... You dont want to make a hash of it...

Check out the damaged car auctions/insurance tenders. you should be able to pick up a wrecked bz-g/bz-r for less than that. As well as getting the motor and box, you will also get the interior bits for the manual conversion and better brakes. And if you are making 550HP you will need better brakes. Plus you can sell off any bits you dont want to get some money back out of it.

Ill give you $12,000 tomorrow, and you make me an 550hp "bulletproof" motor ok?

If you do, ill give you more money.

Thats just no going to happen. Basically, people are going to get tired of answering your questions soon. You are going around in circles.

If you want help, then listen. If you ask, ignore advice, then people are going to start to mock you.

550hp is very respectable for a turbo engine of twice that size... i.e. a 3litre supra turbo...

IF you could get that power you would need a 6million degree cam profile and lot of other stuff that will mean your car is basically un driveable...

350hp is pretty good for a 2 litre turbo... and you want 200 more than that with 20% less engine...

Who told you 550hp bulletproof? which company?

Lock the tread??? That wouldnt be very nice if you dnt like the tread then dont read or post in it, if people who are interested in it reply and the people who arnt dont then problem sorted. He is obviously one confused man in two minds about what he wants to do with his car. Just let him be. If no one is interested in this thread then dont post and it will all stop there easy as that.
