AE111 Swaybar Upgrade questions

Looking to upgrade my Levins rear swaybar to help it handle a bit better. Current swaybar is 14mm. What size would be recommended for town/open road/spirited driving mix.

Looking at whiteline, but probably not adjustable as i'm on a budget. Currently running KYB shocks and Cobra "super lows" always with Eagle F1s.

Options are:

18mm = 173% increase in torsion.
20mm = 316% increase in torsion.

I don't want to be losing it sideways in the rain so would I be better with 18mm or will 20mm be ok. I am not planning on upgrading front swaybar.

none s/s? so your front is 25mm? throw urethane in the front(s/s use 24mm)
20mm is very stable, you wouldn't lose it unless your purposely trying to flick it

buy the adjustable - do it once, do it right - this way you can back it off if you find it a bit too tail happy.
It is possible to get the car so it is way too oversteery on corner entry under braking - take it in small steps from soft to hard to get the balance right!

OR do what I did for my Marino.

find ST182 celica rear springs (disk brake model) - they will fit the top hat and the spring perch fairly well, I cut about 0.8 of a turn off the spring to give the correct ride height and a slightly higher spring rate (car rides at standard height).
Really cheap and very effective mod!
A stiffer spring at the rear will greater roll resistance and so balance the handling nicely. My Marino was just lovely on Taupo racetrack with this setup. Mild oversteer on corner entry under braking that helped with turn in, but didn't make it slow. Mild power understeer on corner exit....
Pretty much all you can ask for in a fwd car!

Buy the H/D Whiteline adjustable jobbie. I got one from SAS, cost me less than $300 from memory.
I got some new urethane bushes for the front of my AE92 FXGT at the same time.

non s/s (ae101) run 16mm in the rear, if just done my bushes with a nothalane set, quite a noticeable difference to me.
But yeah ultimately when im not so poor it will be a full whieline adjustable rear sway bar & urathane bushes in the front, but from memory there isnt a off the shelf nothalane bush set for the front, its a take the old ones out send them away & get nothalne replacements back.

Are the bars the same size between 101 & 111? I haven't measured mine to see what size the bar is.
I think you can choose the firmness level if you get them as a custom job from nolathane.

I don't have the extra coin for adjustable, so should I then wait and save for a while (times are tough) or would both the 18 and 20mm options give good results?

if your going 18mm just run a s/s one, trd one is 19mm .....

The front swaybar bushes... like the rear ones you must measure the bar first... and they did have 24 and 25mm ones for "corollas"

Just checkd with whitelin on the amount of adjustment you get out of each abr

The 18mm adj bar has 3 adjustment settings centre hole is 18mm, then you have a softer and harder setting which is rated at approx 1 mm difference.

the 20mm adj bar has 2 adjustment settings softer setting is rated at 20mm with a stiffer option of approx 1mm.
