a series FWD gear box's?

Postby ke25sr » Fri Jul 06, 2007 7:43 pm

The MR2 has just had a axle come off at the flange. It has punched a hole in the Gearbox. ($&#$%)

How interchangeable are they. It has a Black top 4AGE in it and im sure its the original AW11 box (c52).

can any 1 tell me the differences?

Selectors are on a different side of gearbox compared to the FWD gearbox.

if you know how to split the box's and the middle section of the aw box casing is undamaged use it on the fwd box

way faster than modding the fwd selector to work.

Be best to use ae92/ae101 shafts if they fit, flanged shafts seam to letgo alot

the flange driveshaft bits sticking out of your gearbox can be removed with a bit of force and either fitted to another gearbox or other shafts used.
Im splitting a gearbox at the mo, 5th gear can be a bitch to get off but everything else is relatively straightforward with a manual.

So can a c56 be turned into an AW11 box by simply changing the center casing to an AW one? or is there too much of a difference between the internals?
