Search club4ag forums if you want some proof (I CBF). She was talking about it over there a couple years back (andre's mrs, forget her name).

Because im bored here's some REAL rough figures for yaz, most should be on the high side:

Engine w/ loom - $1000 max
Hone, rings, bearings, gasket set, valves re-seated, metal h/g, longblock assembled - $2000
arp main, rod, head bolts - $500 max?
Good cambelt, tensioner, water pump, new harmonic balancer - $1000
Manifolds (chinese ex, custom in) - $1000 max
turbo - $1000
kelford cams - $600?
i/c + plumbing $1000
shit like oil, filters, thermostat, oil feed/return, rad hose etc - $1000
Link - $1000
Tune - $1000
20hrs@ $50 for assembling - $1000
------------------------
$12100

This is assuming you drive in/drive out and the workshop is pretty competant. 20hours for removing/installing an engine (not incl tune or block work or plumbing/manifold fab work) is pretty bloody generous - but i'd still say fair given it'd be pretty custom stuff and not completely simple. If you're half decent with a spanner for the removal/install and can tow the car between a fab shop, auto sparky, tune shop and home you'll save a bit.

Im finding it hard to believe so many people are doubting the ability of the ZE! A couple years ago we wouldnt even be having this 'discussion' lol - I think a few too many of you have been ripped off by workshops that just arent very good at what they do, now many of you seem to think nothing can be achieved without blowing rwanda's GDP. Professionalism and genuine expertise are too hard to come by these days, that really pisses me off. A workshop that really knows what they're doing shouldnt have any 'unforseen expenses' - too many people just bend over for this excuse.

Anyway im spent, and a bit boozed, gnite

Gotta love those free fuel pumps, wastegates, cheaper-than-cost turbos, standard used pistons, standard head with no work done etc ;)

And one person working on it from start to finish isn't going to get it done in 2 and a half days, thats just a joke.

lol, listen to you two, but its ok, you're southerners

$250 fuel pump and $250 wastegate can surely be covered in my over estimating other things dont you think?

Cheaper than cost turbo? Actually no, $1000 is more than you have to pay for a decent turbo these days (hooray knock-offs)

No of course nobody is going to do it in 2 and a half days from drive in to drive out, there's plenty of pissing around to be done by whoever's organizing everything (ie YOU). But thats what the rest of the labour should come to, yes. Any more for that work and you've been shafted.

Would you trust a cheap knock off turbo on a 12k engine?? You havent mentioned rods and pistons either?? And HRT is from further north than you.

Franklin will reprofile cams for $350 + freight + GST, not bad, and they're much closer than Kelford.

but franklin billets for 20v are about 50-60$ more than kelford

rember a "re profile" you will have to spend more on custom shims

 $200 for a cambelt

the advantage with local cam makers, is you can specify EXACTLY what you want. sometimes ppl like HKS dont cater for your exact needs
