Bolt-on racing pedal suggestions

Hey guys, I want to have a play with the heel-toe driving style like what the pro's do. So I'll need some pedals made for the job, just to chuck in my run-about.
I've heard that I can either go with clip-on pedals or bolt-ons. Bolt-on sounds safer to me, so what are some good options?

mate you can do it without those silly pedals and that way if you do put them on you already know how to do, its easy just use your toe to break and your heal to rev when you go down a gear.

I personally hate those clip on thing... they can be slippery when wet! I don't run them in my car,.. even for drifting... i take them off every car I own.. and I can do heel-toe fine and better without them.. They tend to fall off too...

I took the metal pedals off my race car too and put on new rubber pdeal covers like the DX corolla's came out with in 1980.

Agreed! Cannot stand them, too big I think.
Always found stock pedals in most cars are fine..

however for me, pedals like that make it VERY hard for me drive in a lot of jap cars

i have some in the fxgt, which came with the car.

I find them good to use except when they get wet.

They arent huge just slightly larger than the stock pedals.

different strokes for different blokes i guess.

I wouldnt mind getting some for the supra, but most auto ones come with a hugely oversized brake pedal.

I got a decent set (read thick) from Repco'z, removed the rubber bits and bolted em through the metal of the pedals on my old mini. Made a huge difference as you could actually find the piddly pedals (even if pressing the pedals made no difference to what the car was doing..)

If your going to do it, do it properly, dont just 'clip' them over the factory rubbers

Only thing i'd say is you might want some more height on the gas pedal. Heel-toe is difficult on my corolla just because the gas pedal is a fair bit deeper than the brake, supra is perfect. You could cut a piece of 10mm thick *hard* foam the same shape as the gas pedal and stick it over the top. Try payless plastics or something.

A friend of mine is a prime example of why not to get those screw on pedals...


His (wet)shoe slipped off the brake pedal whilst backing out of a car park and got jammed between the brake and accelerator, full throttle backwards into a concrete wall - narrowly missing 2 other cars. In the panic he managed to pull his foot out of the shoe - ripping the laces but the shoe still kept it on full throttle.

One writen off car (thankfully a honda) and one very damaged ego(multiple witnesses)

similar to what I did in my uncles levin, luckily it was only reversing down a long driveway and was only stuck for a second.. slippery little omos
