linkplus boost control

Postby MR2SIK » Wed Jul 18, 2007 6:00 pm

Recently got my car tuned, is going great :D
But on the way home I noticed the boost spiked in 3rd and 4th gears. The closer I got to Nelson the more frequently it did it. Thought it may have been the freezing air temps.

My i/c pipes were leaking a bit before the tune and they got looked at and fixed. Would leaking pipes cause it to shoot over?
My other thought is the gain type setting on it may be set a bit high? but it hasnt been touched since the dyno.

Thought id ask here before making a toll call to the workshop.

And does anyone have any preference to particular brands of silicone pipe joiner and clamps? I think my ones are on the cheap and nasty side.

what version of ecu?

g3? g1?

The g3's are all open loop boost control at this stage so if you fixed boost leaks, you will get more boost.

Hey, two main things that will cause the boost to spike on your setup.
1 is the wastegate hold value. To setup the boost control for the road set the wastegate hold value to 1 then test the boost control in the gear that it is giving you trouble in, if it still spikes then its more than likely the wastegate base number, from memory yours was set on 50, this may need to be more like 45. You basically need to adjust the base number up or down until the boost comes on to within a psi or so then the closed loop boost control will take over from there. Once you have that right you can bring the wastegate hold number back up untill it starts to spike then back it off slightly.

If you have any trouble let me know and i could give you a call.
Hows it going apart from that?

Cheers Phil

i have a link plus in my car and i went away from using the link to control boost it just seems so slow to react. personally id go for a gizmo EBC as they are easy to set up and relible. i have a greddy profec EBC which does work well but is not all that simple to set up.
other people may have had better luck with the link running the boost control but found it produced fairly lack-lusture result on my car.
current cars:
Evo 4 230Kw atw
1971 mini.
79 bugeye 245kw atw.

Cheers Phil, will go have a tinker and report back, Its going great :D completly exceeded my expectations. It just hits so much harder than before, found myself in a few licence losing situations on the way home

And yea, I have a Gizzmo ebc, but It broke. Launching on a track just after 2 jet cars have gone down it provides a fair bit more grip, resulting in said controller flying out of the dash and ripping the connections in the process :x

and now for todays retarded question

Dropped the wastegate base number to 45 and all was fine, went home and shut off the car, went out a while later and bang, 19psi again... Checked the controller and it set itself back to 50. How do I save changes using the hand controller? I go to the store screen then what?

Im such a n00b

I think that when it says store on the screen you hold both the adjust buttons at the same time until it reads *********** on the screen.

Been a while since i did and adjustment with a hand controller, but I'm sure it those two.
