Postby Charged1 » Mon Aug 27, 2007 4:13 pm

Hello does anyone know how to tell the difference between a 3sfe and a 4sfe engine , its in a 95 Carina , the plate says 4sfe but the guy selling it says its had a 3sfe put in it ? also is there a site that you can load in your cars frame/model number to find out the exact model it is meant to be , Thanks

Carina will most likely have 4SFE. On the engine block it should say either 3S of 4S followed by 6-5 numbers.

could also check the model, if it has 1.8 or something in it, just one other thing to back up the engine plate saying 4sfe, afaik they never came with 3sfes, only 4sfes and 7afes, it was the corona that came with a 2L engine (possibly a 3sfe?)
