I cant see why the sc wouldnt fit, may need to elongate the brackets to deal with the extra deck hieght.

And you would probaly want to run an SC14, as opposed to SC12. To match the bigger displacment.

We really need as many members to write a short article on doing a particualr common thing that they are good at, wether it be swapping a diff head, or swapping blue top cams, showing the results, how to do it etc to compile into the FAQ.

Would be quite useful.

hey

Postby ezy10s » Sat Aug 05, 2006 12:42 am

i actually set one up in a kp i had a while back

7afe with16v bgpport head with complete sc12 manifolding and s/c.
omly issue i encounterred ws the extra 10mm-ish in height of the 7afe block, this meant the top locating bolts for the SC didnt line up with the holes into the inlet manifold- easy fix i just used some fat washers to clamp it together and all good.
same with the throttle body pipe that runs into the SC hole were out i just made a bracket to stop it flopping about and sorted.
I ran a 14psi pulley so needed to file the top of the alloy sump cradle as the pulley fouled it by about 4mm- its just the raised rib that hit.
Oh and the top water pipe that ran to the back of the head- hmm what did i do there... i think i cut it off and ran a rubber hose to clear the SC bits- or was that only because i was running the wrong water pipe? hmm cant quite remember sorry.

I had it all set up ready to runwith water air cooler and everything but as i do i got bored so sold it all off as parts so never had it running sorry.

Dont forget- if you change to 4age pistons Doesnt matter which ones the compression will go up

actually my understanding is that using 4a pistons will lower the compression considerably, because the 7a stock pistons are taller.

if you are going to run any kind of boost you'll want gze pistons, and accordingly the block needs to be decked to maintain decent compression.

theres a couple of good threads on 7A's if you use the search function.

has anybody for that matter ever had an sc14 happening on a 4agze yet?, everyone seems to start the project but never complete it.

always wanted to know what sort of power that combo would produce with fuel system & ECU. nobody seems to get there or always have problems that limit its full potential.

[quote="rollaholic"]actually my understanding is that using 4a pistons will lower the compression considerably, because the 7a stock pistons are taller.

Its actuallly the opposite- the 7afe pistons sit 20thou down from the top of the bore. 4age/ze pistons sit level with the top of the bore
(zero deck height) so when installing 4age/ze pistons into a 7afe block the compresion actually rises.

nah

Postby ezy10s » Thu Sep 13, 2007 10:06 pm

running 8.0-1 pistons in 7afe block with any of the 16v heads the compression will aprox 8.5:1.
or the 8.9-1 pistons in same configuration will be about 9.4:1
will be a neat setup either way
