2e engine waterpump?

EE80 2e carb.Looking at it, it looks as though I have to take out the engine mount to remove one or two of the bolts holding the waterpump to the housing. Is that so, or is there an easier way? fast replies appreciated

Where is your replacement pump coming from? Toyota genuine or aftermarket?

last time i did one i didn't have to remove the mount, it was just a second hand one from pick a part though so probably genuine toyota.

don't know about aftermarket, maybe you do. not hard engines to work on anyway if you do need to pull the mount, i can lift one by myself and i'm not exactly the strongest guy around (or even close)

slightly related, where is the water drain thread on the block for a 2e engine. i can find it on the 4a sweet but not sure which it is on the 2e, cheers

can you remember size of the bolt? the one i have found is 14mm and quite tight, on the 4a engine its around 8mm

if you buy genuine you would still need to remove the thing from the engine. Why would it be any different?

I guess I can just remove the whole thing then only remove the front part of the waterpump.

genuine is $140~ while the GMB(jap made) is 12months warranty at $50. car not worth much

Would have emailed warwick but too small of a purchase for the hassle. Rang toyota instead as that was the quickest and came out too pricy. Skin, no way I would know beforehand that you were selling a new 2e waterpump for $70 otherwise I would be rich buying lotto : )

yeh sounds about right. the head of the bolt is quite long as well. if i remember right.

Gotta watch those waterpump cover bolts, I did a 2E waterpump a few weeks back, broke the heads off 2 of them due to corrosion just undoing them.. Its' easier with the mount off, however getting the mount bolts off under the timing belt cover is really fiddly. Easy as job though.

took it off after a bit of struggle. I took out the metal pipe that runs into the waterpump housing(1 bolt holding the pipe to engine block. With that removed, I can take out the waterpump.

I hate the bloody clamps, why cant they use screw type ones

cause they're cheap, take the oppurtunity while they're off and replace them, its not like they're expensive.
