first step is to have a look in the bumper space and see what you may clash with. some cars keep aircon and powersteering and oil coolers up in there so it may be neccessary to move it around a bit.
on gtfours its common to rotate the compressor housing to a more sensible position,(it points up standard) unsure whether this is done for caldinas, or even possible.

keep the cooler size reasonable, dont go too big, and use decent T bolt clamps and joiners. boost leaks kill turbos quite quickly.

you'd probly need custom piping, i havent heard of kits for these although with their increasing popularity some may be available now.

a friend of mine has done it on his caldina, had to do it all custom.

He used a very wide, short and thin(700x150x65) IC as it suited the room under the bumper better, just got it from trademe.

The lag on it was only just noticeable, but intake temps went down considerably, enough that he took it in for a re-tune to get a/f ratios checked, it was leaning out a bit, nothing scary, and still safe enough according to what he said.

Seems to go quite hard now(when compared to stock)

Driven performance now has a manifold for the caldina if you want to change your turbo as well. As Flygt4 said inverting the turbo is the way to do it easier and take out a couple of bends in the piping in doing so as well but only applicable on a aftermarket hair dryer setup.

here are some pics of how mine is setup which maybe handy

Exactly. Heaps easier to install, more efficent, and cost effective.

I'm really suprised that both my WTA setup and my ct20b havent gone yet to be honest...

i looked into doing this ages ago and decided against if after homework
too much hassle, too much chopping into things, and was going to get very pricey to do it properly

i was going to do most of the work myself and or get cashies done
but even then it still came out too much work to make it worthwhile doing
part of the problem is that i definitely want A/C and didnt want to chop the crap out of my bumper and the engine bay
plus i also didnt want to get rid of my spotlights

bear in mind that you cant (easily) use a el cheapo tardme special I/C, you really need one that is better sized to fit

also you will probably have to mount the battery elseware
rotating the turbo is a damn good idea to reduce bends
i was going to run 2" and 2.5" piping to reduce lag
most I/C's seem to come with stupidly large 3" in/oulets
i was going to run mine similar to teh Ex-Driven Performance Caldina (TWSTD's) and have the pipe going thru the guard where the fuse box sits
but i found i was still going to have to use more bends than ideal, and that i had to chop far too many holes for it to plumb up

modifying cars, especially caldinas isnt cheap

Since most people buy A2A coolers that are way too big for their use but fills up the gaping hole they carved out of their front bumper, I'm guessing it just doesn't look cool enough for them

I think one of those water to air barrel intercoolers would look mint in a Caldina engine bay. Do it and be different.

Water to air is heavier, but you can get shorter intake piping.

You'll need all the other associated parts as well, like pump, water reservior and a heat exchanger for the water up front.

Water to air is able to lower intake temps lower than an air to air setup, as water is generally colder than the ambient air.

and if cruising(as in 100km/h in top gear), it tends to get below ambient due to being off boost and wind chill factor... so, if you're cruising, and then decide to boot it, it's even more fun :)

*edit*
incidentally, I've bought his(skins) w2a setup :)
