Questions and answers
Any curbing? And are the centre caps the same colour as the wheels (to go on new corolla wagon so I want them to be quite tidy) :) Thanks, Will, If so I'm hitting buy now! posted by: usefulstuff (56 ) 1:49 pm, Fri 25 Jan
no curbing, really good cond, yes centre caps are identical colour, thanks 6:21 pm, Fri 25 Jan

You'll see my questions at the bottom of the auction, well it turns out that the centre caps are missing a lot of paint, one wheel has a 10cm curb gouge. So not up to the task at all. I paid $190+80 for shipping. What do you think would be a fair price? (that I will be able to sell them on trademe for, as they are not going near my car!)

Any feedback would be appreciated, AND offers of TIDY 14 or 15" factory wheels suitable for a BZ Touring.

Cheers, Will

those mags are known for being very soft, doesn't take much to bend them, or much of a curb knock to take chunks out of them. to be honest due to that I personally wouldn't say they are worth much. To some odd toyota nutta, a mint set would probably be of some 'value'.

The big shipping component makes the refund aspect a bit of a pain...even if he refunds me the full purchase price I end up $160 down...yeah reporting him to trademe maybe worth while

you'd probably get more if you just took them to a scrap dealer.

Are the mags themselves actually bent?
I'm on the lookout for some cheap 15" mags and may be heading nearby your way next month...

Hey on this note, sorry to hijack your thread bro, but how much are original aw11 mags worth? Don't see any on trademe, i have 8 of them which have been sitting in a shed for about 10 years so they aren't badly gouged or anything.

The mags appear to not be bent, but to be honest I haven't had them on a wheel balancing machine. You'd be welcome to check them out when you're up this way (I'm getting married in the weekend so in no real hurry to be selling them!)

Hi Dave,

In a previous auction someone had asked for photos and it had seemed
like it could have been a hassle.
So I thought, judging from the standard of workmanship on your rwd WRX
that I could trust your opinion, and that by describing my situation,
and asking what I think are pretty specific questions, you would be
able to tell me if the wheels were right for my application.
I'm sorry that you have been offended, but I'm giving you the chance
to share your side of the story.
They are in good condition for a wheel that had been on the car since
1993ish (when the AE101 FXGT came out), but I assumed from your
description that they were what I was looking for, a wheel that hadn't
actually seen much used, and may have been switched for an aftermarket
one early in its life. (you must know how many near new 1995ish WRX
wheels are available for very little.)
I haven't complained to trademe, nor placed negative feedback, nor
asked for the refund of $140 (the price difference between what I paid
and others have said they are worth) so I think your claim or
arrogance is unjustified.

Thanks, Will

In your first line you mention, it seemed... so you asumed. theres your
first mistake.
In your secound line you "thought"... i spot a trend here.
Further down ou say "pretty specific".... so your admiting there not
specific questions.
Then you mention that you are giving me a chance to voice my side of the
story, which in auctual fact your forcing me to fight an uphill battle form
your personal opinion.
Before you state facts make sure they are correct. ae101 fxgts were in fact
produced before 1993, and your toyspeed friends will verify this. so you are
not doing your research properly... just like the wheels.
And near new wheels the same as what i have on my wrx are worth approx
300-350 so i had reason to believe the fx gt wheels were a reasonable price.
I am aware there is no complaint to trade me.... yet, but you have voiced a
rather biased opinion on your toyspeed forum, so how is this much different.
I am aware of what you have and havent offered me but you have to admit the
negative feedback thing works both ways.

your welcome, dave.

Hmm the whole advert was misleading right from the start including stating the alloys were identical to the ones in the photo :? agan i deal in second hand rims sometimes and you would expect to pay $150 - $200 for mint condition alloys , this would even be backed up by most toyota wreckers , i would ask for a refund of some sorts to show good faith on his behalf 8)

$200 is fair for the wheels, but a 100mm curb mark (it it just a scratch or a kerb / dented alloy?) when they said they were fine is not ok.

I brought 5 sets of wheels last year mostly off trademe, I always ask in the comments, are they 100% true and straight, no kerbing etc., if they are not will you pay to get them repaired, the last wheel cost me $90 to get fixed ...

All the sellers agreeded, I ended up with 2sets having a crack in one and another 2 buckled wheels, and thus arranged compensation with the sellers.

But this guys seems like a bit of a ... <cough> .. so yeah -ve feedback, but the wheels are fine - they just dont look 100%, they do the job, life will continue.
