What is the engine? Does it have a AFM, if so you need to keep this. do you have a pic of what you have removed?

okay so ive got this far lol,

a few things i need to know is,

do i need to plug the little hose that comes from the engine intake thingy into the little pipe thats sticking out of the intake pipe i bought? ive tried it without putting it in and it makes a rather loud sucking sound and the engine idles quite high..

Also that plug that goes into the rubber bung. i think its the air flow sensor? does that have to be plugged in? because i have to stretch it underneath the pipe to get it to fit.

One more thing, when i put the whole thing on by just sliding the blue joiner over the engine intake thingy its quite loose and i can easily slide it off? yet i only got two of the screw tightner thingys (lol) to connect the pod filter to the pipe and the blue connector to the pipe! If anyone can understand what the hell im talking about and give me a few pointers it would be much appreciated..

Cheers

MAP= Manifold Absoloute Pressure, it takes a pressure reading from the inlet manifold, there will b a hose going to a little black box somewhere (donno where on ae92).

at a guess id say bung the holes up on the stainless pipe and throw a screw into the pipes that you have removed and it well go sweet as

and i know the clamp is spose to be on the groove on the blue connector. but theres nothing else holding it on.. i can just easily slip the whole pipe off! 8O

I haven't looked at a smallport for a while but i think there is a sensor in the airbox (intake air temp sensor). carefully remove this from the airbox and hopefully it fits that mounting boss on the intake tube.

Also you really want to find a way to get cold air into the pod filter, sucking hot air off the engine will lose you power.

yeh that plug that kinda looks like a spear head? it goes into the rubber bung on the intake tube but its a bit of a stretch to get it there, wot i need to to know is..

1, do i just block up the small hose thats coming off the engine thingy thats making a massive sucking noise when the engines running. OR is that what plugs into the little pipe thats sticking out of the intake tube?

2, how do i put the whole bloody thing on the engine thingy so its secure? do i have to sacrifice a screw clamp thing so its nice and tight?

ok so if i sacrifice the clamp that holds the pipe onto the blue connector then theres a chance the pipe might fall out of the blue connector.. ffs why dont they send you three clamps?!

use one of the clamps from your old factory intake
it's not rocket science...anything will do if you're REALLY in a pinch use a cable tie until tomorrow when you can buy a proper clamp.

BTW as above, your 99.9% likely to lose power with that setup, its gonna be sucking in toasty hot air straight from the engine

That small pipe sticking out between the sensor and pod, you'll want to plug that up as it will be sucking unfiltered air...

success then aye!

repco / local garage etc should have a hose clamp if you don't use the factory one off your old intake.

should only be a few bucks
