4age will need chassis modification, so dont think you will want that for a daily.

4efte will drop in however, my mate has one with a t3 turbo setup, goes nuts:)

If you really want good advice, go to www.starletcentral.co.nz lots of fine examples there.

Realistically, if its a daily you arent wanna have it off the road too long so I wouldnt bother with an engine swap. Just get your old man to knock up some extractors for it, make a good cold air intake and get the cam reground for a laugh ;)

No, 4efte are from the ep82/ep91.

The turbo motors from your shape are 2e-t's i think.

A 4E-FTE will bolt up to your gearbox , how long your box lasts is another story. Best to get the FTE box with the motor if posible . The block is the same so just bolt the mounts off the current motor to the new one , sort the loom out (easilly the hardest job in this swap ) , sort the exhaust out , and I think you will have to front mount the intercooler , others will be able to say if the top mount IC fits under the 71 bonnet , but I'd be surprised if it does .

Good luck with the transplant :)

"Understeer" is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"Oversteer" is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"Horsepower" is how fast you hit the fence.
"Torque" is how far you take the fence with you.

yeah im not doing it anytime soon just wanted to see what it would take, steel fab wont be a problem. that other gearbox that ur talking about would that use the same shafts as what are in the car now? and yes i would front mount it as the steel fab isnt a big issue
