So im back this year and who nows how I will go, But for $100.00 I got more track time in one day than I ever had and some TV time as well.

...or even if you run off the track at the wrong angle and one side digs in to the dirt or gravel = car on its roof while hoping you're not going to need to support 1000kg's with your neck.

Risk you take really.

3rd from last at Taupo last year!!! Oh yeah.. can't get much worse than that...
I wouldn't take my toy to Puke, but if they have a round at Taupo, I'll be there.

PC: A fair comment. And very true. But since this is marketed to everyone as a style of racing available to all, we (as the all) need to make sure that the event is actually held that way. Last year, a number of people said the would go, but (for many reasons) didn't make it. This is fine.
The event turned into a bit of and evo and wrx fest. There wasn't much competition for those of us in the slightly less impressive vehicles. But for the four or five of us it was good fun. I was happy be in the top half of the dungheap class.

Ie: you can take your new civic, your dx rolla with a 13b, your supra, your lotus 7, your van, your mad rb conversion laurel etc down the dragstrip and will get classed appropriately - you might not win but at least its not "street" and "pro" classes only.

As it has been echoed here, superlap pretty much seems to be about how much money you throw at your car. Arguably so is drag racing - but those guys are all in the pro import (?) class.

Hardest part I guess would be how you class the cars. Possibly do it on the cost/extent of the modifications - or do it based on if you drive to the day or not.

Its very much a case where something needs to change or else no one will bother and the event wont really get off the ground - who wants to even try enter their type-r if you have to put it up against some 600hp track monster evo with over $100k in development!
shame you don't live down these parts, but i am sure if you rocked up to any of the MCC events at Manfield with the appropriate safety devices and $$ you could do exactly what you are asking.
the biggest turn-off for guys starting out is the fact they didn't spend as much as the top guys, but the grin factor is usually higher for the novices.

awesome day, but not many cars, few of the fast as guys dropped out on their first run with problems.

i'm def happy with my time, especially against proper race cars!!!, that was on 19psi of boost as well.
My last run I was going for a mid to low 4, but i went to fast around the sweeper and got ugly as into the S's, locking up, going side ways etc lol

next on the list is a half cage, and might get down to taupo superlap next, duno about manfield, its so far away :?

Well done 1.04 is absolutely flying around there so great effort.....
Especially since I no that Evo 88u has at least $200 K put into that car I am unsure how much you have spent over the years but I'm pretty sure its no where near that amount again good going.

Well done, bloody excellent time. Pity about the incar footage, that could have been very interesting to watch! Any reason you weren't running boost at full capacity? Longevity?
