Postby bluemaumau » Tue Apr 08, 2008 12:48 am

specs:

20v silvertop block
smallport 16v head
ARP head studs
TRD 0.8mm metal HG
4AGZE CAS

ive run into this issue im hoping some knowledgable people may be able to help me with.

as i slide the CAS into its port it is just fouling on the head stud below it.

here are some pictures:

sorry about the image size i cant get the resize thingy to work

the head is torqued down to 60ft/lbs and i have used the ARP moly lube.

ive sort of run out of ideas, so any help or suggestions to why this is occuring would be greatly received.

hopefully its something simple

cheers

There was a thread about this not long ago. Forget how they fixed it but a search should bring it up

yeh. the bolts were upside down in last thread i think. but look to be right way in those pics.

i'd say the bolts have not been wound down into the block enough, before you put head on and torqued up.

yea wrong way last time.

im sure they are right down. i put a ruler on top of them and all 4 exhaust studs are level, and the "problem" stud was atleast 6-8mm lower. :?

so im guessing it is supposed to be sitting lower than the other 4.

dont remember mine being lower, but could have been. if it can't go down futher, you'l just have to pull the stud out and trim the end off.

I really doubt you would, just grind it flat across, then you can't hurt it.

They are only spinning at up to half engine rpm aswell?

Not until you tried to undone it in a years time, after it has seized in place...

And the stud cracks across where u weakened it.
