Postby dvmv_kim » Fri Jun 20, 2008 4:06 pm

last night i was driving and i was going up a hill so i plant my foot on the accelerator then it went bang after i let my foot off and now on the aftermarket boost gauge it doesnt go over 0 its always under 0 psi the turbo has no play in the shaft and spins nicely not blowing any white smoke the problem is, its just not boosting and its really slow and the idle is fine and the turbo doesnt have any knocking sounds like blown turbo can anyone please help me? thanks

Boost leak possibly. Check all joiners and vacuum hoses.

yeah ive checked it out i even got a guy from pitstop to have a look for me he think it might be like a fault or boost source thingy, im sure its not a boost leak cause you cant hear the turbo spoil up anymore cause the turbo should be winding up like usual so i dont really know.

sounds like your boost source taps gone fuzz .. that blows off with a bang , then 0 boost .. used to happen regulalrly ith crappy hose for an equally crappy guage i had in my old St185

bought autometer , never had an issue ..

no the factory gauge doesnt work since i disconnect it to run over 12psi and "classique71" you think the boost source taps faulty or dead? and with the autometer is that the boost gauge or you talking about a autometer boost source taps? sorry for asking dumb questions just need to make sure

i usually see on trade me people put like garret internals on a ct26 so does that mean i can get any turbo and put all the inside bits into the ct26?

If you've blown the exhaust wheel off, the car will sound likea tractor and be gutless as hell.
No you can't put any old Garrett turbo internals into yours, its usually a T04 compressor wheel they use as well as giving your turbine wheel a backcut to let it flow more up top.

Thats because a Soarer is a 6 cylinder, when I blew the turbo on my MR2 it definately sounded even more like a tractor than usual.

Funnily enough, yes the amount of cylinders does affect the noise a car makes

Maybe chat to Alltech about having your turbo rebuilt and highflowed...cost me $850 a couple of years back to have a CT26 done by MSE.

lol yea the number of cylinders do change the sound a car makes but with a broken turbo how does a 4 cylinder sound like a tractor an a six doesnt make any weird sounds just didnt understand that part
