Tauranga Dyno day... gauging interest.

Postby YeMs » Tue Jul 08, 2008 6:22 pm

hey peoples just gauging interest as to how many people would be interested in attending a dyno day in tauranga at dynopower in the near future. thinking of setting 1 up and just wanna get a feel for any interest at all.

would run it as a pre-booked event at $50 for 2wd run and $60 for 4wd run, then any 1 who shows up on the day and wants a run will pay $60 for 2wd and $70 for 4wd.

much easier to have it pre-booked so i know im actually gunna get sum people showing up. have had heaps of interest just by word of mouth but thought id have a look see on here too.

may even have a 'king of kilowatt' prize if there is enough interest.

let me know by replying here cheers :) Jens.

strx7, ill check but im pretty sure it can handle big tyres. has wide rollers, and i know they run off-roaders down there.

You sure? 213kw 4age, a 266kw SR20, or a 346kw RB26 to tie with a 400kw 2JZ. None of those are that hard to find.... to win a dyno day with a 3litre you need HUGE power.

kw/cc is no good, otherwise you run the risk of having turbo Honda's and 4AGTE powered machines rolling up and ruining the fun :lol:

im keen as if its a weekend. be interesting to see what my new setup does.

Ive never seen a dyno before, what readouts does it give? just a graph showing revs/power or does it give data on fuelling, timing etc

base it on cubic capacity under motorsport rules, forced induction = capiacty x 1.7

therefore a 4AGTE = 2.7 litre
2JZGTE = 5.1L
3SGTE = 3.4L

Thats the best way to do it.

thats fair enough. for us thats easy to under stand. u try explain all that info to your average boy racer haha we will have a riot on our hands wen a vtec turbo wins the king of kilowatt. i think we will just stick to a day of dyno readouts rather than making a competition out of it.

Yeah I've never bothered adding a competitive twist when I have organised this kind of day. You might get some friendly rivalry amongst people with comparable cars but thats about it, its plenty of fun checking out all the different things and how they go about their business. No one complains about seeing something make >400kw @ wheels, and most are amused by seeing something random show up.
