Engine removal

Time to take the engine out the ae111........... So my quick question is do i take it out the top or drop it out the bottom? Ive got a engine hoist just looking for the easiest way to get it out.

ive never tried dropping one out the bottom but i found it very easy to take out the top.

just detached everything and carefully lifted it tilting the engine side up slightly.

I find 20v's easy to drop out the bottom, just drop subframe, loom, axles, support engine on hoist(have hoist pumped up) undo 3 bolts on end gearbox mount and two studs under the right mount and you can lower it down.

use axle stands to hold the car at there full hight so you can move the engine from under the car

Most mine have been out the bottom, cos they were 4WD. Did a 4EFTE out the top and found it was much easier then lifting the car off and dragging the motor out. So id say out the top if it will fit
