Okay, I know I posted this a while ago, but never got round to checking it out till yesterday as I haven't been driving the car much, and the WOF is due next week. Have checked all the lights, and they still work, would be odd if its the wrong voltage bulb, as none of them have been changed in my ownership.

Is it likely to fail the warrant for having the warning light on the dash if nothing actually seems wrong with car?

Also, the handbrake light keeps coming on intermittently when just driving along, any suggestions?

In theory yes it could be a fail
8-1-4 braking system, reason for rejection
"34. The ABS, or brake system warning lamp or self check system, if fitted indicates a defect in the ABS of brake system (does not apply to brake pad wear lining systems)."

The car doesnt have ABS, so it should be anything to do with a ABS system. :D

yes you "could" be failed as I have come across this myself, different voltage bulbs in the rear tail lights. Depends on how hard the WoF man wants to be I guess.

Hand brake light comming on could be a sign of needing adjustment, might be a wee bit too tight and grabbing the disc as it rotates. I'd pull the rear apart and take a look at clearances etc.

or brake system warning lamp or self check system

That kind of captures pretty much everything related to brakes and warning lights though. If the guy cares that is.

Well passed the warrant, one of the brake light bulbs was blown, but seeings as there are two brake lights on each side, and only one is requires, I still passed. So stoked with that, apart from I think I need my eyes testing

One thing they did mention is that teh CV boots are split, doesnt affect the warrant either, but keen to get them fixed. How hard a job is it to do yoruself?

Inner or outer cv boot? From memory the inner ones are easy to do, and the outers not so easy

Brake fluid will be low in the reservoir. When you hit a bump, the low fluid warning light will flicker, if you ignore it the light will eventually stay on.

Surprised it took someone that long to point it out.
First thing we ever do when a customers car comes in saying the handbrake light flashes or wont go off is pop the bonnet and check the fluid level.

Your brake pads are low and the fluid has gone from the master cylinder,
into the slave cylinders, and the fluid is low bringing on the light.

The fluid resovior is capacity matched to the brakes so that it comes one a long way before the pads are really worn out, but that's the theroy.
