t50- 20 or 22 spline

Postby mint ke35 » Tue Oct 14, 2008 8:35 pm

Hey everyone

I'm looking for a t50 for my 4age but am unsure on whether I should go for a 20 or 22 spline?
does it make a difference?
is one stronger than the other?

Any help will be appreciated

Search the forums dude, this issue has been covered before.

But quickly, 20 spline wont fit the A series bellhousing without a spacer, 22 spline will.

a t50 is a t50.

only real difference is the 22 spline bearings are slightly bigger, and the output shaft is 22 spline. if you're putting it in a ke3#, your factory driveshaft will fit the 20 spline t50 which helps.

but realistically if a 20 spline t50 is going to blow, chances are the 22 spline would blow too...

As l1ttle_d3vil has said above, a T50 is a T50.

I have gone from a 22 spline to a 20 spline in my KE25 (bluetop up front) and haven't had an issue, both have had as much crap thrown at them as each other.

Also i'm pretty sure (don't quote me on this) but 22 spline gearboxes may have slightly different ratios? Well the on ei tried in my trueno seemed slightly taller geeared compared to running my 20 spline T50. Maybe due to the fact the celica has 4.3 ratio diff. te71 with 20 spline runs 4.1:1 ratio diff
