Prop Shaft Hoop / Loop - Show some pics!

Just wondering how people have added the loop/hoops for the shafts in their RWD setups.

I have feeling that i am in need of one and would like to see how other people have done this.

Unfortunately I dont have pics of the one on the KE, so you will have to put up with my lame MSPaint skills

Its two halves that bolt together, so use your imagination. quite simple in design, but works a treat. Off the top of my head the flat bar is about 40 mm wide x 10mm I think and not that far back from the universal joint.



If I remember correctly there are specific requirements around what you have to use in terms of materials, but dont ask me right now

Just thought i would add the bit of legislation:

yes, within 150mm of universal, or each universal if two-piece.
and it needs to be bolted with 2 bolts on EACH side of the loop as shown here. there is specific size bolt and steel you're supposed to use too (although it doesn't say in the legislation), so it may pay to check with your certifier.

Do a search for ae86 race car,in members projects,author 20mm spammer.couple more photos,we bolted the front one and welded the rear one,really depends on how much room you have,we've just taken them off as we have given up on keeping the race cars road legal,they will fit an ae86 if anybody is after some.

that one looks like a TM one, which has been bent to fit
mine was custom, only took about 30-45 minutes on a hoist. cut the too "wings" and rolled the steel, bolted the mounts up then welded it all together in the correct position.
you have to do it with the car in the air and the diff hanging down too. my last one was setup on a pit, then when the car was lifted on a hoist or done jumps (:lol:) the driveshaft would drop down and hit the loop.

Well i dont need to worry about the movemnt of the shaft as i have IRS / JZA70.

Will look into each of the designs and see what i have access to more than the other. I am booked in for Cert next Tuesday and should get that sorted!

im fairly sure they need to be 3mm think minimum

he will give you 28 days to rectify any problems... unless you've already been for your cert and this is your recheck?

If it is a Cert check then yes 2 months is the correct time frame. Read this on a Cert check form just the other day
