E series engines interchangable parts?

Postby xsspeed » Sun Dec 21, 2008 8:23 pm

Hey guys

Was playing with the 2e engine again today. Got me thinking...Just wondering what parts are interchangeable between the different engines?

Like can a 4e crank be used in a 2e?

Cheers

should be able to use crank and rods as block is very similar if not the same, just 4e has 1mm bigger bore. haven't tryed either of the above myself tho.

4e = bored out 2e
5e = bored out 3e

1e is a special powerhouse of its own

can't bore out 2e/3e and use 4e/5e pistons as wont work with 12v head

Do you have any specs on the 4efte crank? Are they hollow like the 2e ones?

The 4e head is twincam 16V right?

not sure on crank specs, but never hear of anyone having any issues with them. the 4efte crank has "4et" cast onto it so must be different in some way. ran over 170kw and near 8000rpm thru my old one,

yeh twin cam 16. very similar setup to 4afe head setup.

Mate has a Turbo-S EP71. Been through one or two engine rebuilds and ended up putting a 4EFTE in as the 2ET was getting hard to get good pistons etc. Good motor for what they are but 4E ftw

I thought he blew his up and was having to rebuild it/had rebuilt it. I wouldn't have thought he'd sell the starlet!

Will have to do some research/play around with parts etc
