Is it possible to turbo my Trueno AE111

Its a pretty sweet car.

Where do i start how hard is it?

First place to start would be to use the search function on the forums. Theres truckloads of info on here you just need to take the time and find it.

On a serious note though, no offense intended by the following. But if you really have no idea how to go about it.... I hope you have a REALLY big wallet as its going to cost you a shed load. If it was me, i'd either buy one already done (theres one for sale on here right now) and sell yours. This is the most economical way for you. Other option is to buy something that comes factory turbo, S15 etc.

Lets start here though what can you do yourself?

Btw i'm not trying to be all negative and shit but it really does add up cost wise

Well i bought this car from Japan....and its in pretty mint condition and i have had it for about a year and is really reliable so would like to keep....I have install vacuum gauges, and change my own oil, but thats about my limit.

Keep it as is man, i've had my 5 years and still enjoy driving it. Mines standard.

For the money you'll spend turboing it, you could have many better setup cars. Cars like evos wrxs etc. (just examples no one rage at me haha)

Just my 2c though.

Many people have turbo'd there 4ages.... you do have a 4age do you? I forgot to check....4age or 4afe.. or 5afe?

okay is there way i can make it faster the mags i have way it down a bit...

Cheapest way is nitrous, and even then you're pretty limited. Cam grinds etc of a useful amount of lift and duration are really limited without a stand alone ECU.

Theres not really any cheap options to make them fast. The mags will certainly kill the off the mark acceleration if they are heavy. But if you go smaller make sure you get some good tyres other wise they will just spin up.

okay is there way i can make it faster the mags i have way it down a bit...

Why not get better suspension and springs to go with some extra few handling bits to make it handle better. You will find the car will be more fun to drive and at the same time still economical and reliable.

yup

just put a td04e on it and run 15psi on those AWSOME as blacktop internals

no need for a new ecu the stock one works fine.

oh and that stock airbox is sweet for boost too

some sarcasm and tips there..

if you know $&#$% ALL this is not car/project to start on

if your actually fully serious and you cant do the work some tuner place will just take you to the cleaners.

but you need lower compression pistons
aftermarket ecu + injectors and the rest.
new intake box.
manifold and turbo
intercooler and piping
anything bar blacktop rods

and the rest....

well 12K eh? its alot of work...hmmm might flag it.....Though one more question What sort of tyre pressure should i be running since.

Currently its like 35 in the front and 32 in the rear.....i just want less spin outs in the rear.

Those pressures will be ok. But what tyres do you run? what size and brand?

Decent tyres (do a search on here ) will stop any sliding of the car unless its got something else wrong with it. Which i'm guessing could be the case as they handle well when everything is fine. Unless you drive it like a muppet anyway

12k seems mighty pessimistic. I think I could do it for $3k but it would have a whole heap of second hand bits and pieces in there. To do it justice is probably more like 4k + change doing vast majority of the work yourself. Lots of things to buy to turbo an NA motor.

to do it cheap you'd throw away the blacktop - they seem to sell for robbery prices for reasons unknown to me, would go along way towards 4agze which would be a much easier, cheaper starting point
