Anyone here done it? got any tips or tricks?

Have a 94 Supra motor and will be running a Link G4 Storm, DSR T3/T4 and Either a Driven Performance manifold or something similar. Im probably just going to run the standard injectors etc at first just to see how much I can get out of it befor trading up to bigger injectors.

Under many a Nissan powered rock but am building something very different now http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index.php?s=f52a08a564cc7d79e3eb490f0375befa&showtopic=18335 and have decided to ditch the VQ and go with a 2J just for how simple they are to get power out of and how much easier it will be to put into the car

And now I've cleverly uncovered the forum name of that guy sitting on the other side of the work room here....

Mwa ha ha haaa.

Oh and as we've already talked about this earlier tonight and I'm being a smart arse replying to this rather than raising my voice... I'll just add that no. I have no tips or tricks. Just like earlier.

Mate you'll make the power sure enough but don't forget suspension and brakes to get the most out of the car especially brakes.

about 205-210rwkw will max out the standard 315cc injectors. best bolt in the 1jzgte 380cc ones or 2jzgte 430cc ones. not expensive.

Either way I would be looking at injectors, single turbo manifold, turbo etc also I already have the Link G4 so this is looking to be an easy cheap option over buying the factory turbo motor... and from what i can understand the only real difference is the compression ratio and the oil squirters

Actually there is a fair bit more than the compression ratio and the oil squirters.

The wonky over engine plenum and TB
The old distributor ignition which can cause issues when asking for power
The lower flowing oil pump
Much smaller market for head parts (Exhaust cam especially)

Your better off starting with a 2JZ-GTE.

If you are looking for a cheaper option look at a 1JZ-GTE head, oil pump and sensors on the 2JZ-GE block. That at least gets you a better platform for future parts. I will warn you though compression rises with a 1JZ head so you will need to do something about that.

Disagree.

You're paying $2500-3K for a 2JZGTE. you can pick up a 2JZGE for $500
you can get a JZGTE oil pump for $50-100. You ditch the dizzy and use a C.A.S off a 7MGTE and run a Mitsi tripple twin post coil pack set up with Misti Ignitor which all mate sweetly with after market ecu's which you'd want to be using so the ECU isn't the limiting factor. The exhuast ports on a 2JZGE have been proven to flow more than a 2JZGTE does and a port and polish of the intake side will see the GE flowing more than the GTE does std.
high perormance turbo Cams for N/A heads are availble if you spend 10 mins looking instead of 5mins like ya do for turbo cams. And you can get a custom plenum made up which alot of guys do for GTE's anyway or you can port match a GTE upper to mate with the GE lower.

as far as $$ per HP go, if you're starting from scratch and want over 500 HP or plan on going single turbo the GE wins.

The conrods are the same, guys in the US have put down 700+rwhp on GE pistons

Actually I've seen 2JZ rods die before 700hp on a few occassions.

Can't be bothered discussing futher but I've done it the GE block way, doing the rest properly (forged pistons, rods, 1JZ head, etc). If I were to do it again I would use a 2JZ-GTE.

bang for buck, i agree with strx7. if your only looking for abit of hooch and nothing to serious then +T would be the way to go.

engine = $500ish (unless its already in your car)
manifold = $400
turbo = $400-2000 (depending on quality etc, those trademe specials are fairly hit an miss.. either work or they dont lol)

you could use standard plenum etc an just run IC piping over the motor. or could cut an shut the standard plenum and use a JZ throttle body which would set u back about $500 for the job an a throttle body.

intercooler, piping, bov and joiners shouldnt be more than $500

i set up my 800cc injectors (s6/7 rx7 13bturbo secondary injectors) with collars to fit the standard rail for $400.

sum misc stuff like oil lines and pipes, making up an exhaust dump pipe and joining it on would set u back about $500

then the g4 is about $2500 i think, and wiring is on top of that. then tuning. and u will wanna do a fuel pump just to be safe.. and fuel filter.

if you need a deal on getting it wired up and tuned let me know.

and in all honesty, coming from sum1 who has exeprienced it from both ends. if you can do the majority of the work yourself u will save yourself a shit load. if you dropped the car off you could expect probly a decent 20 hours (including wiring and tune) retail and $70 an hour incl gst is $1400
