high comprestion pistions + boost? (2tgeu)

Postby 79rolla » Wed Jan 14, 2009 8:22 pm

hey still doing my converstion, just wondering how much boost could a low comprestion 2tgeu handi reliabilyl? there pritty strong arnt they?

just asing coz im thinking of turboing my motor, its freshly rebult late verstion 2tgeu, so thinking of turboing it mostly for cert reasons, so i could play round with 3t internails later down the line if i want...

is it worth it or not?

accoring to a websit, the high comp pistons from factory were 9.8:1 compression ratio

will i ned to look at bigger injectors or anything for this sort of compresstion? (i dont know alot about turbo tuning) but another fourim was saying you can run 9:1 with about 6psi on pump gass, but once it gets up to bout 10:1 it needs to be run on race gas?? or would 95/98 be fine?

just put some 440cc injectors from 7mgte/3tgte/nissan sr or ca i think fit.

Should be sweet for 10psi or so with a good tune.

on further investigation scrap my statment abut compretion ratio

its alot more likely to only be 9:1, do i need to wary about bigger injectors? or not warry about it?

i had wrong genoration, (mine has doble vaulve springs and a plastic oil cap lol)

i have nissan ones, cant remember what they are out of, but were cheap and flowed 440cc, must have been from a turbo something i guess. They do need bigger orings to fit, but they are cents from the local seals place, and i always replace all the seals when i change injectors anyway.

More power = more fuel

Turbo motor = more fuel

More powerful turbo motor = lots more fuel

more fuel = bigger injectors

:D

Seriously though, you'll need some good aftermarket management and some appropriately sized injectors - 440cc are relatively common and are inexpensive/flow more than enough. CA18DET injectors are likely to be significantly larger than the NA versions, likewise with just about any other na vs turbo motor comparisons.

iv sused out sum sr20det injectors witch are 440cc i think.
cannot afford aftermarket engin managment yet, but have 18rgeu ecu witch runs afm and o2 sensor so shuldint have problems leaning out? can you tune the standard ecu? or shuld i look into getting aftermarket as soon as i can?

how is the rebuild going anyway? got pics?

I'm pretty sure it was an 8.4:1 engine, it's the late model EFI which doesn't have hemi shaped combustion chamber and piston tops - it's the one which has an offset dome on the pistons (assuming you're still using the original pistons).

haha yeah brand new tentioner, no problem getting parts, except the oiler holes were in the wrong place on the berrings, took them back and he just field them out haha(wernt out by much) its all standard internails still, bigist problem i had with parts was they cost a grand (including seailss and a cupple of hrs prep work by them, god thing i did most of it myself then bult it myself, oh yeah the top cam chain they got was too long so they cut it dow for me and also got them to set up cam timing aswell coz i didint know what to do with it lol (just the upper chain)

he commented on the condition of everything being in relly good order too and all dimentions were standard too!
