3sgte from gtt caldina , incressing boost from factory 10psi

Postby toycustoms » Fri Jan 23, 2009 2:37 pm

hey shaun here again

i have put a bleed boost tap between the turbo and actuator and can only get it to run 12 psi boost, factory for it i think is 10 psi.

does the computer not allow any further boost ingress?
if i wined the tap any further it will run factory 10 psi like usual

i can see another pipe from the actuator that leads to a censor and then goes back to the intake manifold, does this switch over wen it detects the actuator not opening as far as it should be thus switching it back to a factory psi of boost?

any answers would be wicked

cheers shaun

do a search, its been covered a million times before

1) factory boost is more than 10PSI
2) putting a boost tap on a caldina is a stupid idea, unless you like your motor blowing up

the engine itself isn't the problem, its the combination tune/ecu and engine.
whats the bet its not a standard GTT ECU running the KE30? and if it is its obviously been tuned to get the dyno figure.

point is there are other things to consider when increasing the boost on a GTT, not just "crank it up au!"

i actually think this question or some form of it gets asked at least every fortnight.

caldinas aren't quite "put a tap on it and crank it up" cars.....they're a little delicate in that respect

someone with a lot of knowledge on these cars needs to make an FAQ about them i think  will save the amount of topics popping up on a weekly basis asking this sort of question

Mine makes the same power on factory ecu used to run 20 psi on old factory turbo run 14 psi now with t04 still factory ecu had the car for 7 years still going strong. People need to stop going on the minority of people who have blown there engines , which could be from poor maintnance, crap fuel should be 98 octane.

I would splash some money and get a dual solenoid boost controller something along the lines of a Apexi AVC-R or a Blitz SBC I-D both really good boost controllers and will give you optimal control of what boost you want to run.
