Ok Corolla went in for cert on coilovers and superstrut calipers yesterday. When the car was dropped back at work i was told it failed - the springs are too hard. He suggested softening the shocks right up to see if that helps. Took it back at lunch time for a recheck but got told it was borderline (a pass tho

). My question is what spring rates do people run? The BC's i got came with 6kg/4kg front/rear and the kit was meant to be the "street version".

(car is AE111 sedan with full interior etc)

i run 5 kg/mm front and 3.5 kg/mm rear in an AE82 Fx-Gt on the street. Shocks are reasonably stiff valving also.

My Bazda Suspension.

Racecar with 15" wheels - got its cert with
1 x race set (adj. damp.) + 8kg front - 6kg rear springs

When I tried the following in my roadcar with 17" wheels, I removed it immediatly as it was stupidly bad.
1x road set + 6kg front - 4kg rear springs

Yeah corolla has 17's and 205/40 tyres. hmm when sam (NILPSI) came for a ride two weeks ago he thought the ride wasn't too bad

8kg front and 6kg rear in my AE82... not really a "road" car, as it's not comfy driving on the road anymore.

got my old Z10 soarer certed with 8 and 6kg adjustables no problem

Z10 is probably a wee bit heavier than a AE111 Corolla, or enough at least to make a difference.

yay legal.

Yeah i don't mind the ride of these springs but i don't want the problem of spot welds failing etc.

Been told by contact at redline to check pre-load set up so that will be something for the long weekend

Yes

depends what ur definition of bad is.
I dont think its the spring rate, its more the shock rate.

When I run 14kg springs from 8kg I dont really notice that much difference on the road.

If you want a nice ride stick with standard shocks and lowering springs

.
If u want adjustables that are soft, the car wont handle very well.

i run with bc coil overs in my jzx100

my rates are 12kg on the front
10kgs on the back

backs are still a bit to soft, mostly to do with the dampning rate tho

last three digits on the spring part number are the rates

Bad for comfy cushioned road driving, really good for fast track/sealed sprint driving.
