agree
the autech sr20de is one wicked motor, unsure what the $$ would be for one tho

all this advice, is good bar my spam, but you honestly have to weigh up your options before you go rushing into it
if its a long term project thats proberly more realistic than a few months turn around

theres only so much convincing that we can do, at the end of the day its up to you

i would love to see a RB20/25 with itbs be a hell n/a screamer like the old L24/28 engines

on a side note one day i will bulid a n/a screamer 1jzge one day

The Autech motor isn't bad, but its by no means stellar.

Its actually one of the older low intake port models without VCT. Its just that its more highly strung, bigger cams with more lift, higher compression etc.
In all honestly, being that they come from an Autech car, they'd be more expensive than a SR20VE
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

Autech's have VCT....the only thing they have in common with the S13 engines is the rocker cover colour. The "bump" for the vct solenoid is clearly visible on the intake side and the intake manifold is clearly the later model s14/s15 one.

Oh yea. I got a lil mixed up there :P

They're a good engine then. Rated to about 200NHP (Nissan HP). Or about 230THP (Toyota HP)

They still don't have the variable lift thing however - 100hp/l is pretty hardout with a single profile, VCT or not. Cool motor really, I've encountered an Autech S15 before and it doesn't mess about.... the same motor in a light RWD Toyota would be something not to be underestimated.

I still reckon a Renesis 13B-MSP would be pretty cool in one too, I'd not be surprised if one would be cheaper and easier to find than an Autech SR20DE

Speaking of SR20's
How do SR20DET conversions go in front wheel drive Pulsar's ?
I'd imagine they're pretty quick but do they have any chance of traction, ie. is there any tricky suspension mods you can do to help in this regard?

They go fine, providing you can find a FWD SR20det. Front, rear and 4wd ones are all cast differently.

Easiest way could be to take the sr20de and add a Turbo to it.

I didn't think there was such a thing as a fwd sr20det factory powered Nissan.
Seems quite common in aus to convert SSS Pulsar's to turbo using U12/U13 Bluebird or even Gti-R engines, and apparently the 4wd SR20DET's bolt straight up to the fwd gearboxes making for a simple conversion.
Only asking as I might be going to aus so looking for something with some decent bang for buck such as this one

They are definitely all different, remember 4wd ones being hot property when I was working for the nissan wrecker here. It would be easier to convert the 4wd one than it would be to try and make a rwd one fit. Whatever you do, don't get a GTiR engine! It's impossible to get any parts for them, and they are completely different to everything else that nissan built.

I know of a guy who is still looking for one... his car has been off the road for quite some time...!

My vote would be for the SR over the RB in such a small light car such as the KE70

Its just as rare as an SR20DET or 3SGTE that sounds like a tractor!
