Fortyone.co.nz - Trust / Greddy Thread - AE86 Coilovers

Postby Fortyone.co.nz » Wed Apr 30, 2008 12:18 pm

Right we have 2 sets of these on the boat, ETA 5 weeks (via Squidney, meh!) and need to clear them at a special price! Front 8kg Rear 6kg, -52mm to +32mm front, -32mm to +23mm rear, comes with Trust produced spindles. These coilovers received a very positive review by JDM Option (before the site got re-jigged - cannot find it!) but overall the handling was superb.

They are $2999 / kit. Yep approx half the price of the car and that's why we're bringing over 2, not 10 =]

Not cheap, but I'm willing to put money on the fact they are about 10x better than something someone here has knocked up except my Koni ones, cause they rule.
When they arrive I'd be quite keen to see some close up pics of them.

I'd be willing to bet they're better value for money still than the Daiyamas, at a 1/3 the price!

Whilst there has been no public confirmation, we have had confirmation behind the scenes that Trust is, um, halted business.

There's different meanings for different things in Japan, there *should* be, it's not like NZ where if you're gone you're gone!

Its been confirmed by Autoblog, apparently $60 million in debt and has filed for bankruptcy. Apparently more are due to do the same due to the bad sales market at the moment & Japanese youth not buying cars as much now.
Ending up with spare parts in assembling things since 1983

They're still available, Bankrupt in Japan essentially means you can hold off people you owe money to, restructure and still retail the same wares. It's more poor investment options and a bloated business model that is killing them, quality will always sell fortunately!

Indeed however the difference between brands which HSD make for are the custom build requirements especially piston thickness! Standard off-the-shelf HSD kits differ here. 43mm vs 52mm
