would sending it somewhere to get profeshonail cu and polish and a clere cote work?

Cut and Polish is harmless

Its not harmless, it does take a layer off ;) If you're not careful it can go through the top coat.

Depends what you use. Something like a fine cut cleaner isnt as abrasive as others

Second - meguiars cleaner wax/paint restorer

third - meguiars polish

third - turtlewax Platinum canuba wax paste

fourth - NXT polish or Turtlewax ice

NXT polish over turtlewax ice anyday. Turtle wax ice feels so synthetic and fake

goto the nz mr2 club and look up my sticky under the sw20 section. I have a full guide there on how to resttore paint. I too had the red problem, 1990 had a uv stabliser fault you can slow down the problem but eventually youll need a re spray. I polished my car weekly and it needed a respray after about 4 years.

If you got the car professionally cut, and then waxed with a machine and you waxed it every 2 weeks by hand you will see a dramatic drop in this fade, when you buff with a machine is is far more effective than a hand cut as it heats the paint and removes the oxidation a lot better. the consistant waxing will keep the paint with a protective coat over it.

i have a red arch that needs replacing, so i thought i give something funny a go BRASSO, and $&#$% me dead, hand applied with a soft, buffed by hand and it looked new. Then sealed with Meguiar's number 51 yellow carnauba wax. the car is parked outside 24/7 so i'll see how long it lasts

I might do that, get a second hand buffer off trade me, i used some CRC Wax but didnt get the protector and polish, came out ok but i dont think it will last.
Thanks for all the advice 8)
