have a chat to drift_monkey on GD (he might be on here too) hes destroyed a few 3S heads looking for suitable places to add oil drains. dunno if hes ever left an engine in the car long enough to find out if it made a difference but defintely a starting point

Why have you decided to straighten it up? Just out of interest...

at the moment it's sitting on the crossmember with the fwd sump but the 1s is slightly skinnier at the rear of sump. also hasnt got the boldge in the side witch hits crossmember and if i lift the motor to make it sit without hitting everything including intake hittin brake master cyl it will hit bonnet on launch

if it is a gen 2 3sge you can put a drain back between no 2 and 3 on the exhaust side right where the oil flows to go past the valve springs and also just under the disy ,but make sure you dont go through into the water jacket and if the motor is going rear wheel drive it will sit 20mm off being level as they lean to the exhaust side with a 2s sump and bellhousing with w box or t50 box
1 other thing on these motors is we pull the head and put a 2mm oil restricter in the block to stop the 6mm hole of pushing up to much oil
they did do this on the gen 4 and 5 motors with the head gasket thou

very interesting about the 2mm oil restricter. i was hoping to wing/gate out my sump to add about 1-1.5ltr extra oil to at least keep the pickup wet.
is 2mm the norm or was this just what you found to be best?

just making sure as going from 6mm to 2mm is quite scary, though i have seen rb30's resort to 1.5mm restricters.

the 2mm hole only feeds the cam up top any way and will stop 2 much oil from being up in the head
raced this motor for 3 seasons and had no problem with a wet sump and still use a wet sump with the gen 5 now and have no oil problems at all
