Car suddenly wont start

Drove home fine,
Now sitting on a level surface with full tank of gas,
It will fire up roughly for 2 seconds then fully die, if you plant your foot when you start it, it will rev as high as it can for 2 seconds then completely die,

Sounds like bung AFM to me, is similar symptoms to my old facelift.

Bridge B+ and FP in the diagnostics port. This will make the fuel pump run permanently. The problem with bung afm is the car thinks its not sucking in any air so wont supply fuel.

Hey mate thanks for quick help, Have the fuel pump already wired up to a switch on the dash and you can hear the fuel rushing through the car with everything turned off but the fuel pump,

But you say dodgey AFM? I am thinking the same thing myself... stupid bloody things.

Does it stutter and then die or simply cut out?

Well i sprayed it in degreaser as ya do...

Then i started it up and it idled nicely for about 2 minutes then just died... turned it on a couple more times and its idle time was decreasing, now its gotten to the point where it is Sputtering and then cutting out

Oh yeah it has also had this problem before once but it kind of just fixed itself...

check your spark plugs aren't fouled, clean them and put them back in, or just chuck some new ones in to be sure.

make sure injectors are actually firing too, might only be firing off the cold start fuel or something weird??

its got some new very expencive iridiums
also has brand new 8mm leads and coil lead
Cold start injector isnt connected and never has been

Now thats sounding like the problem i had with my RC. Is it pulling up any error codes? Mine did exactly that, and had error code 14. Ended up having a fried ecu.

Pull plugs and check them anyway. Always the best place to start

full tank of gas? u sure its petrol in tank? sound u could have put diesel in it.

Ohh really? Good thing i have a spare ECU... Car is now just cranking over no firing... changed coil leads and HT leads

edit* gas is coming out the exhaust so it is getting fuel

i would be pulling plugs. smell them? propably fouled

okay ill swap the ECU then check the plugs, what would cause the fouling though? and wtf is fouling?

over fueling e.g no spark. when plug is as black as ace of spades(all over) or dripping wet.

ahhh cheers ill give that a shot HOPEFULLY it fixes these stupid problems.... How do you diagnose which code is being sent when check light is on?

yeah if plugs are wet if won't be firing. if you're not sure if plugs are wet, spray some engine start down the inlet manifold, close throttle and crank it. if it fires you got a fueling problem.

or pull a spark plug out and clamp it to an earth (engine hook or something) with some vice grips, attach ht lead and crank it to see if theres spark.

expensive iridium plugs can get fouled too replace them with cheap plugs from toyota just to check, i get mine for about $3 each. it can be caused from the engine running too rich, which could be caused by faulty water temp reading, map reading, TPS reading etc etc.

It doesn't mean the fuel pump is half dead. It has only enough flow to prime but not enough to keep running...
But problem could be entirely else...
