Ok i have an issue with the silver top i have in my ae82. Specs are as far as i know, standard everything except has had the head shaved, not sure the exact amount off it, all run off a mega squirt.
The issue i'm having is a lack of torque between 4000 and 5500rpm - it's ok above 5500 and really good above 6k but the problem is it's used 85% of the time on gravel and narrow band of 2100 rpm right at the top isn't really ideal - ok on track but not so good for narrow gravel and unsighted corners. So basicly in short there is a rather large lack of mid range torque - much less than my previous road carwith a silver top.
Now the question for those who know is this.
1 - is it possible that when the head was shaved the timing has been put back to it's original setting and this isn't advanced enough thus giving good top end but bugger all mid range torque?
2 - The mega squirt is tuned like ass through the 4-6k rpm range and that is causing it, if you believe this is the case can i please have a serial cable to plug in and the software to run it on my computer
3 - Has the vvt on point (think but not sure 5000rpm) been set at the wrong point, remember this is only a simple computer with rpm triggers only, no loading or other triggers so has only rpm point for switching.
If you believe 2 or 3 to be the cause cn you hook me up with serial cable and software for a mega squirt.
If you believe 1 to to be the cause can you let me know what you have set timing on other silvertops with shaved heads to
