BZ Touring wheel and tyre fitment

I have searched the forum with no good answers for this so thought I'd post..

I just bought a 1997 Corolla BZ Touring wagon (AE101) that has 15s with 205 50 15 on it.
They rub at the back, and on one side of the front on full lock.

I think it may be more an offset issue with the wheels, but even then, there does not seem to be much clearance behind the wheel.

I want to get some 16s or 17s on there but will they rub?
Has anyone else with a BZ done the same?

Where abouts does it rub? Be specific

The front is probably just a plasitc inner guard, just don't turn to full lock or find out where its rubbing and (if its the plastic part) chuck a cable tie through it and tie it further from the wheel

Yeah I'm not worried about the front, its the back.

As far as I am aware it is standard height.

It rubs at the top point on the inner of the guard.

So if this is the guard (see below) then it rubs at the top point.

Obviously guard rolling would fix this, but it shouldnt rub in the first place?
Just keen to hear what others have experienced.

Doesn't sound like the wheels are the right offset. You should be able to fit 205s in there. Pic would also confirm if its lowered or not.

we run 17 x 7's and 205's on our BZT, but it's AE111 shape.

On standard springs and no rubbing.

Well i'm stumped, shouldn't be rubbing on the top really..

Is it all the time or only if you cart around some chubbies?

Haha haven't had any of those!

Umm its going over big bumps, reversing out of steep driveways onto the road etc.

What I'm really wanting to know is whether 205/40/17s (with a 40-45p offset) will fit with no more rubbing? There are a few sets I've got lined up...

I know trial fitting is the most guaranteed way, but a pain in the....

Go to a local mag shop and ask if you can try one on?

Hard to know why its rubbing from the pics.

Not sure of the offset,

but the only time I get rubbing is when we (over)load it up when we go away at new years.



Basically hit the bump stops and just rubs on the guards at the same time.
and it just rubs on the bolt at the corner of the bumper.

hey man i got a few set of 17's here going cheap in that fitment,, sounds like u need to roll your guards as well. come by the shop and see me ill be able to explain all the fitment issues to you.
