my point is, unless you drive a cheap car, or a car that you are willing to walk away from, then 3rd party isnt really enough cover. its not only about you having an accident.
its also about someone crashing into you. or into your parked car. a situation a TSer (rs13 i think) learned about a year or two a go.

Full Cover vs Third Party:
We had a car on third party because it was only worth $3,000. I was involved in an accident which wrote the car off, I believed i wasn't at fault and so did they other party. The other party was the city council so my insurance company didnt go up against the government and i was ruled as at fault (even though i freakin wasnt) So ended up paying a huge excess (am under 25) and losing a $3,000 car.... all to save a measly $200 a year! I use this story for my clients because I learnt the hard way and I don't want others to.

Maybe you could provide all of the figures/options you had so that it is easier to see how your story relates to this discussion.

... where did you get $800 a year from? I said I saved $200 a year by insuring only for third party and not full cover. My options were third party cover for $150 or full cover for $350.
The story relates to the discussion because it shows that even though you may be a good driver, people can hit you, pleade innocence and render your third party protection useless.

They can do race car insurance which covers you for everything except when your actually competing (Even covered on touring stages if you are doing rally)
Seconded Megan sorted the insurance on my Swift, and will organise my other cars when they are ready to go.
Emailed her last night around 11, got a phone call this morning when at around 11. Friendly, prompt response, im actually looking forward to hearing back from her

Another HUGE plug for Megan from Bay Insurance. I had no problem at all sorting out insurance on both my Subaru and girlfriend's Mazda for excellent rates. Megan was quick, friendly and very helpful. I would recommend her to anyone requiring insurance for their vehicles.

Fifth-ed the comments above She sorted the insurance on my Corolla, and for a damn good price.
Not exactly racecar material but its fairly modified and insured for a decent amount.
Just out of interest do any insurance companies cover vehicles while they're competing, such as the S15 that got written off at the Nightwars?
