I have done a few old vechicles and there is usually a trick to just get the guts of the barrel out and then click a new one in. the key does need to work for most of them though but mabey a lock smith can do it quick enough and cheap enough to make it worth while

mates WRX was broken into and they munted the whole barrel, not just the cylinder, trying to start it. obviously n00bs!
that was a mission as we had to pull the thing apart in the middle of a car park
