wheel modification?

hey was wondering how hard is it to get my alloy wheels widened?
i have some celeca supra mags and i want to add some beef behind the spokes and widen the inside of the wheel to fit over my 4 pot breaks, and widen the lip out on the rears so i have dish 8)

or i could try find something that fits and give up

just so you know these are what i have

will be going on a ke35 with flairs.
Current:KE30 my baby,ke35 (now going to get the 2t treatment),isuzu spacecab ute

good timing, i was about to look into this for my aw11, hard to find wider wheels with the correct offset.

keen to hear about the legalitys of such modifications.

oh yeah leagality.. ill add now that the car is going to be getting a cert on this car so if they need certing it wont be an issue

As far as I know the only way they can do it for alloy is to mill/lathe it down to fit to a 3 piece wheel.

Also getting something like that approved/cert'd might be like pushing shit uphill

For the cost involved (ignoring any rules etc) I doubt it would be worth getting all that done. Just find some better suiting wheels imo.

it has been done in the states before, those wheels look badass with the extra lip.
I looked into it, but arrows told me it couldnt be done.

Anything can be done. If someones willing to pay for the work, then there will be someone who can/will do it.

Personally I wouldnt worry about the legal side of it, thats just a big can of worms that no one needs to know about. If you trust the machinest/engineer enough then no worries.

And on the off chance something fails and your wheel breaks into 3 and flies aross the motorway and takes someones head off, you can be done for it... not us. Good idea.

Law is there for a reason. Usually because some important person with alot of time and money has looked into why it shouldnt be allowed, and there is USUALLY a good reason for it.

If pros say they can do it, make sure theyll put it in writing that it will pass certs/wofs etc just to be on the safe side.

i have spoken to one or two guys that have said it is possible, but they dont like to do it due to legality issues. one did say he might do it if he was convinced the wheels were going on a dedicated race car

this used to be real common in old cars with steel wheels theyd weld a band in the rim i saw a pair of 9 inch wide standard hq holden wheels but as far as i know thats illegal now

if u want steelies modifyed stewart and cavaler? spelling? in ta do it but they wont weld it. but they will cut the wheel in half on there machine perfectly! and give u the incert....

you cant do it to aluminum alloy because it will crack right next to the weld,
the weld itself will be hella strong but the surrounding alloy will be weakened from the heating of welding.
its even worse when the alloy is old. or cast.

look for better rims mate, those supras ant that great to begin with.

that's not entirely true. You can solution heat treat/precipitation harden the aluminium post-welding to achieve similar strength to the original wheel.
