rear control arm bolt removal

Postby gleem » Sun Oct 04, 2009 11:32 am

On my camry, pretty sure other toyota aswell. the two rear arms that go onto the rear support axel has what looks like one long bolt going through it with one are in either side if the hub, i have taken the nut of and got one arm of but i can hardly get the other bolt to move and there fore cant get the other arm out. And ig tried hitting it with a hammer on the other end, Does anybody know or has it just sealed over time?

They tend to get a tiny bit of rust inside and so the bolt won't come out!
Curse a lot!
Heat (if you can arrange it)
CRC
be very careful bashing the end of the bolt at you can distort the thread and the nut won't fit on again!

No easy way sorry

I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!

i have had some success with CRC(or similar) and a good paint stripping heat-gun. heat it up whilst leaning on a power-bar.

There is CRC product called Penetr8, it works better than run of the mill CRC.

unfortunatly that bolt is now rounded to hiyying it out or getting a nut splitter in is the only option now
